I never took any time. Men are worthless to babies except for occasional holding and playing. I sent my MIL into the room after our first was born and went and took a conference call in the parking lot. Looking back, it was the right move.

Didn't take it. I did my dadding in the evening. I definitely paid my penance with my second kid. Cruising at 4 months, walking at 9. The cruising part sucked. She should have been twice that age. This meant that instead of lying in bed, possibly crying out a sleep, she just stood at the side of the bed, chewing on the rail. Because of this, along with colic, I ended up sleeping with her on my chest in a rocking chair for most of her first year.

Ok, colic sucks, but having your child asleep on your chest is pretty cool -- and if they have colic, you don't want to wake them.

Yikes which way?
Do you agree that after the wife drops calf the man quickly returns to work the way he always has until the last 5-10 yrs or are you for the Pete Buttidige route?

Taking care of and bonding with your new child makes you gay and an attention whore. That's certainly a take

I handled the paternity leave just fine. It was the paternity suit that did me in.

1st week take off then play it by ear once she is up and moving fluidly. Sleep is 5050 you can't do shite especially if she is breastfeeding but she will make sure to make noise so you can't sleep either. I slept in the pool house for week# 2 through 12.
I tried but I ain't worth shite w/ out 5 hours of sleep.

How about providing for your family and not milking your employer? You can bond from 5pm-8AM and on weekends.

Went to the hospital on the day wife had the baby circa 2010. I drove back to work when they slept during the day did some things then went back at night.
Same when she came home. MIL and my mom were at the house. frick being there.

Besides some skin to skin to give the baby your smell, I concur. Men are pretty worthless up front for a human baby.

Using leave means not providing for your family? That's a new one.

Back in my day we took off the day the kid was born. Then we packed a lunch pail the next morning and went back to work. Times seemed to have changed since then though.

Lolz. I sat through an 18 labor and delivery and allowed my MIL to hang with the baby and her daughter while I went back to work. Total scab.
