re: How did LaToya Cantrell get elected mayor? Were there not any viable native politicians?

I usually have to abstain in the mayoral election. Learned my lesson after I voted for Nagin back in 2002 as a businessman reform candidate. That's almost funny now. Even the ones who don't appear outwardly terrible and incompetent turn out to be so.
LaToya doesn't bother to pay her own income taxes. She should be recalled or should just resign.

Desi Charbonnet made the runoff. She is the female political twin of Marc Morial. Corrupt as they come. Was a terrible judge. Her brother, Bunny, is a mover and shaker and a real shady character, and it was assumed he would have a major role in the administration. Would have been major pay for play issues. Bunny has served on boards such as our lovely library board, which misappropriated a bunch of money, as well as general counsel for the Orleans Parish school board, back when they were misappropriating a lot of money.
Michael Bagneris was the other. He had some good ideas, he was a civil district court judge who seemed to care more about his personal ambitions than he did the city.

It's hard to believe there were no viable, native democratic politicians available. They just let the California lady have it? What gives?
Shiny hook but basically the population would rather have someone they identify with run a shithole than have someone they resent do anything good for the city.

Maybe so, but he grew up in the Desire Housing Projects and went on to graduate from Yale, so I was hoping he would win even though I knew little about him beforehand. I respect people that are able to accomplish great things despite bad circumstances.
Charbonnet came off as completely unlikable in the debate I watched and like she thought she was better than everyone. It was odd.

I know the OT can do this. Let’s fill it to the rafters with homeless people.
I'm on board. Do we have a reputable, well established poster who can coordinate this?

People that don't own shite get to vote.
People that suck off the Gment get to vote.
People that have no idea how to vote, follow the leader.

Sidney Torres should run and be the Mayor.
SERIOUSLY.
For the sake of the city. He would help turn things around.
Now someone has to convince him do it.

Ask Grigsby. His PAC went after Charbonnet like a pit bull.

Well, yes, but you also need a LOT of gullible white folks to fall for the SJW nonsense as well.
I was guilty of that up until the 2010 timeframe.
Anyone who has voted Democrat (myself included) for any number of years is to blame for it.

as I recall one was a credit card thief (latoya) and the other was an embezzler people decided credit card theft was lesser of a crime then embezzlement so latoya wins
Who was the crazy guy running for mayor who made a video of him cleaning out his own catch basin? They should have elected him.

At this point I'd just take her limiting her "in regards to" every time she's in front of a camera. Every Time she opens her mouth it sounds like she's about say "what had happened was....."
