How can someone be "immune" to a taser?

Whether on drugs or whatever else, how can a taser not drop a person? Like in the Alton Sterling case, supposedly he was tazed and didn't fall.

I've seen video of a taser dropping a huge bull.

Is it a case of the prongs not making full contact?

I've heard numerous stories of people being tazed and not falling.

Big fat people who have their adrenaline pumping and/or are on grugs often can just shrug them off

I'm guessing it'll be a while before we get the tox report, but he had to have been hopped up on some serious shite. I've seen big guys get hit with one of those and just drop into a fetal position whimpering.

Yes. They also have to hit a good area and penetrate skin

Yeah, but a taser locks up your muscles preventing control of your muscles. Drugs shouldn't have any effect on that.

Good question - I have been told by a veteran LEO and discussed with an EE that it is possible to build up a resistance to a taser if you have been tazed multiple times... He likened it to vaccination.
Not something I would want to go through...

The teaser doesn't work well in fat. Also if the prongs don't get enough space between them they don't work as well. I'm told for best results aim for the upper thigh and middle back.

is the 99% answer.

Most of the stories you hear about people powering through the Taser are because they didn't get good strikes or full contact. There is also a Marketing Factor involved. The company sells the thing as being a death ray and has made Billions with a B on that story. Fact is that it is a machine. I have seen them fail to fire, fail to shock, barbs not penetrate and other factors. It's a tool like any other.

I'm rolling on the floor laughing at all these responses. It's taking me a long to respond bc I cannot stop laughing. No, there is no such thing as a built up resistance to electricity entering your body and there is no immunity to it.

Those prongs have to both be connected to the clothing (does not have to be skin) to complete the bridge. If one falls out then the taser fails. Also needs to be somewhere between 12-18 inches between them for full affect.

true leo intelligence there. No, you cannot build up an immunity to electricity. MFing stupidity. It's electricity. If you know how electricity works, you don't have to ask if someone can be immune to a taser, unless you are discussing drugs.

And no, fat doesn't matter. Electricity runs right through fat.

A lot of times police will use fake tasers so they can shoot people.
