There have always been people who believe outlandish things, particularly those with strong political beliefs either way. There are some absurd things some conservatives believe as well, in fact I can name a few.

These two things are impossible to compare. Different kinds of bravery. I'll say this though: as someone who was in the initial invasion, I'd go back and do that a dozen times rather than tell my friends and family that.
