I recently spent a weekend in Mobile. Was expecting it to be another Jxn, Memphis, Shreveport, etc., actually a pretty nice place, not near the crime and culcha.

New Orleans needs one for the pelicans and smaller concerts
They have one. It's currently known as the Smoothie King Center. Why is a new one needed when OVER half the NBA teams play in arenas as old or older than the SKC?

Baton Rouge, need one for the LSU basketball team and other sports
What other sports?
Also, why does the LSU basketball team need an arena downtown? Regardless, there are plans to build a new multi-purpose arena on campus in the next few years.

Is louisiana politicians that more corrupt than alabama? At least Louisiana has a lottery and sport betting We can't do that here because the Creek Indians in alabama won't let it happen and politicians are getting money under the table from other states, so a lottery won't pass.
The Mobile Civic Center was 63 years old and was woefully outdated with very few significant renovations over the years. That, plus in increase in South Alabama's population/industry, it was probably time for a new arena. It has little to do with corrupt Louisiana politicians and more to do with the fact new arenas are really necessary right now.

New Orleans has the Super Dome and the Arena... what the hell do you want?

Wait, you mean the venues that hosted this years Super Bowl and a Taylor Swift run?

What does everyone consider to be small? The SKC is not small.
New Orleans has Lakefront Arena for smaller events. If they need anything its an outdoor amphitheater.

The arena seats 17,805 for concerts, 16,867 for Pelicans games, 18,500 for college basketball and Pelicans playoff games,[9] and 16,900 for ice hockey and arena football.

Mobile has plenty of cultcha (it's 53% Black). However, the eastern shore (Baldwin County) does not (8% Black).

Jimmy Buffett spent much of his childhood in Mobile.

An arena for LSU sports that isn't on campus should be a non-starter.

Is this a serious question?
I believe they are equally as corrupt -- but one side is much better at NOT getting caught

You need to try downtown mobile. It’s very clean with nice bars and restaurants. I have to go to a convention down there once a year and always presently surprised cause of all my years just going to the tunnel jaded me.

So we can only use it like 4 months out the year. The rest of the year we are burning up and getting eaten up my mosquitoes or freeze.

Nola and BR don’t need one and BR is building one anyway
So basically your entire post is dumb as frick

Who cares? Mobile still sucks
I was there recently. It actually does not suck. It's like they saw what NOLA is doing and said "Let's kind of do this, but better."
The fact they haven't legalized gambling though is one of those continued proofs of dumbassery.

fun fact - he and my Dad were church altar boys in there childhoods, and were still friends with him and Lu Lu.
and no, Mobile is not an absolute shite hole - it has it's issues in areas like every city, but it is not too bad at all - I would have moved back home if not for hurricanes and the cost of insurance.
