I already addressed this.

(FTR, I've never been pulled over by a white officer/marshal from either department)

Something like this. A pair of sunglasses with a camera and audio recorder built in.

Jeanerette is an interesting case.

They are not outside their jurisdiction as it extends to the entire ward which does include that stretch of 90.

They are outside their charter which doesn't include all aspects of law enforcement. They were formed to provide security for the court and serve warrants. As someone has already pointed out, the Jeanerette PD has been in shambles for quite some time and the Marshals have become a de facto police force.

However, they do not answer calls for service like normal LE. I have a close friend who is a reserve deputy with the IPSO who will vouch for this.

The problem is that the Jeanerette City Court is the recipient of the lionshare of revenue generated by the Marshals and 100% of the tickets they write appear in Jeanerette City Court if contested.

I will gladly help IRL if you get anywhere with this. I drive that stretch for work daily.

I'm just trying to decide if it is worth it. I've got no doubt that Jeanerette is into some shady shite - they're having trouble now with misappropriation of funds from what I can find online - but I don't want to have a target on my back. Unfortunately I don't know how far I can get anonymously.

I do appreciate the info though. I've tried to follow the money on my own but they don't exactly have a line item for citation revenue anywhere on the state audit reports.

Yeah it was a bad joke on my part. I was trying to point out that it would be difficult to use an actual GoPro in an inconspicuous manner during a traffic stop.

I think that may be the only viable option if I want anything done.

Ha, so I got pulled over on 90 in the Jeanerette limits. I WAS NOT speeding. I told the officer I wasn't and explained I was gaining on the cars in front of me etc. He said i was I asked to see he dash cam and his radar. He refused.. I had to drive down there for an arraignment then court. TWO hour long trips and sat in there waiting for several hours each time. They all just snickered when it would come up and I'd say I wasn't speeding. So they take you to view the video before you go in and plead guilty or not. What a shock the video was somehow destroyed and it was basically blank. I admit to going 2 mph over the limit, the DA still wants to fine me but the judge gives me community service. Crooked mother freakers up in there

This shite baffles me. I got 20 hours for going 7 MPH over the limit. I would have paid twice the ticket amount to avoid that.

I got a ticket from a state trooper in Patterson 60 in the 55. An LA trooper I know said he never stops anybody unless that are 10 mph over. Not the one who got me.

Looking back, I am still surprised how I was let go with a warning from a sheriff after I nearly ran into him turning on an intersection.

I'm not sure why, but I've got no issue with troopers. I guess I just figure they're less likely to be directly benefiting from a racket, so even if they bust my balls about 5 over, I can live with it.

I think they were trying to send me a message because I had someone with the DA's office try and get it straightened out for me. Ticket went away but got a letter saying in lieu of a fine I owed 20 hours of community service within like 60 days.

If they were trying to send a message, I got it. Haven't been pulled over again despite my usual 5 MPH over until the most recent incident.

Im with you for the most part but I know of several dirty cops in LA. Not that way up here but LA is infected with them. Large cities too.
