Done it many times and I'm always aware.

I've been busted for speeding a few times and I'll shut up and take my ticket if they have the speed right.

When they say it is 85 when I'm going 70, I've got a problem with that. In both of my little rants I specifically said I'd take a ticket for going 5 MPH over because that is the facts, and both times they let me go because they know they're making shite up as they go along.

In a weird way the two warnings have pissed me off more than anything because it is an admission of guild as far as I'm concerned.

Do some police lie in court? Some will. Most will not. Do regular people lie? Some will some will not. I can honestly say that I never lied in court in my 20 years in public service. An officer whose credibility is compromised just as well find another line of work. I testified on a red light ticket once. The judge listened to my testimony and the violator's testimony. He stated that I had a reputation as an honest trooper and that he knew nothing about the defendant. Based on that, guilty. Your assertation that most lie is BS. Sorry you had a bad experience.

But I really want to.

If I had the money I'd by ad space entering those areas pointing out the upcoming scam drivers were about to enter. This shite really pisses me off because when I've tried to fight it after getting a ticket it is cheaper to just pay it and move on.

In Patterson I got a ticket from an officer Grogan. I inquired later about going to the court date and found out Patterson has a "mayor's court" where the mayor presides over the hearing. The mayor's last name - Grogan. I paid my ticket and gave up at that point.

True, but they use the bend in the road and sharp drop to shoot you when you're doing 65-70 in a 65 and write the ticket as you cross into the 55 MPH zone

Yes, they do some pull some BS in that 55 MPH zone. Honestly, I think it has more to do with the wrecks they have in Patterson than trying to increase revenue. The way there are crossovers from both sides of the hwy there is deadly. Bad wrecks in that stretch are very common.

I don't believe you're talking to me directly, but I want to make it clear that I really don't have an issue with the police and I've been called a bootlicker a few times on here before. My issue is when there is a blatant racket and scam. What are multiple city marshals doing patrolling HWY 90 when the Jeanerette city limits don't even extend to HWY 90?

Twice in the past 6 months I've been pulled over for going speeding while going 5 MPH over the speed limit

It's not a speed suggestion. It's the LIMIT

No offense intended to you or anyone. And for the record I hate real speed traps.

Fair enough, but that doesn't explain Jeanerette. Both troublesome intersections were replaced with overpasses years ago, yet the police presence has increased significantly. Jeanerette is a dying town ever since Fruit of the Loom left, and their police chief was busted recently for working security at a whore house in Lafayette, so a crocked marshal office isn't a stretch.

I'm aware. Write me a ticket for 70 in a 65 and lets both go on about our day.

That didn't/doesn't happen though.

I know this, the jeanerette marshals surely aint doing it to provide safety on their very small stretch on hwy 90 where jeanerette is...they are doing it for revenue and have done it steady for last 10yrs or more, however they are never in there own town writing tickets cause they know the tickets won't get paid because the town is poor mostly......the Marshall should be providing more safety in jeanerette not venturing miles away, out to the hwy looking to make money...no other stretch of 90 between lafayette and houma are marshals havocing the hwys like jeanerette does, not once have I seen, laf,new iberia, franklin, morgan city, houma marshall on hwy ..heck I've seen the jeanerette marshall even LEAVE iberia parish and write tickets well into st mary parish including witnessing the marshall a couple if times already in st mary parish and cutting across median and going further into st mary parish to stop someone...for the record, I drive hwy 90 everyday from lafayette to houma and have done so for 25yrs....

The sad thing is, in most cases city marshals write tickets for overtime and revenue. If an accident occurrs, they call for LSP or the SO. They should stick to serving papers, warrants, and nsf checks.

Prayers sent, both to you and your vehicle.

Again, pulling me over and writing a ticket for speeding 5 MPH over is ticky-tack BS IMO, but I'll take it and pay it. Accusing me of 15 MPH or more over my actual speed limit and then letting me go when I call it out is an admission of guilt.

Slightly off topic, but a few years ago I tried getting the DA in Iberia Parish to fix a Jeanerette City Marshal ticket. Got word that it was done and thought I was good to go. A few days later I got a letter from the Jeanerette city court saying in lieu of my fine I had to perform 20 hours of community service in the next 60 days. I couldn't believe it - I would gladly paid the ticket had I known that would happen. I haven't gone faster than 5 MPH over since that day.

I've heard the exact same thing. A train hit a truck on the frontage road a while back and there were 5-7 troopers and not a city marshal to be seen. They've actually had a city marshal die in a high-speed chase in the last 18 months and two other marshal vehicles collided with one another while pursuing a vehicle that ran off to the frontage road within the last 12 months.

That wouldn't be alarming if it was a big department, but this is in a city with 5,500 people. This shite is a problem on all kinds of levels.

Your one example of truth but yet that's your truth that your claiming, many cops lie their asses off and dont even act like thats a false statement....it's true..dont water it down

Once in st martin parish around 09, I got a ticket, the cop told me if I brought cash it wouldn't go on my record after I asked if there was some way to have it reduced, that was his answer...how about when I put the cash in his hand ,he pocketed that money....period...

Ask yourself one question- do you really want to get into this with them?

Retaliation is very real and has a very long arm, further than just Jeanerette. Keep in mind you're talking about ending dollars that go toward people's salaries and livelihoods.

Not saying don't do it, just be careful, otherwise you might have an unwelcome visit sometime soon.

Directly? No, no I don't.

Indirectly? Yes, which is what I'm trying to address here.

I have pretty direct access to House Speaker Barras, I just don't know if he has any desire to go after his own constituents.
