Stay warm, my fellow BDR supporter. Looks like things could get a little chilly your way tonight.

I wonder if heat related injuries and deaths in the immediate aftermath of tropical storms are counted in their death toll.

The two weeks after Andrew sucked. We didn’t have a generator.

Put a little Drano down the PVC drain if he didn't blow it out with compressed air.

I put a little bleach solution in there to prevent some algae building. The drain line outside flowed out really well after my dad found the clog.

I’ve been in Phoenix when they shut the place down because it was 122 degrees. It was hotter in that attic by a solid margin.

Heat index 111 in Shreveport. Dangerous. I’m blessed to have power because so many of them still don’t.

The heat wave set in on Sunday June 11 in South Texas, and now has E-X-P-A-N-D-E-D over most of Texas and Louisiana south of 32° N and east of 100° W. And it's not going anywhere, soon.

A similar setup occurred last year from early June to late July; in fact the May to July 2022 monthly temps/ppt in Houston indicated the hottest and most rainless such period in the city's history.

The reality that such a pattern could occur two summers in a row is unprecedented, and is likely attributable to a changing climate.

Most places in the area will probably end up with the exact same high temp that they had on this date last year. NOLA airport likely set a record at 97° today, but those temps only go back to 1946, which misses at least two 100° days closeby.

The humidity thrown in the mix is what makes you want to kill yourself.

I’m outside working hard. Only wearing a bathing suit and sunglasses. All week.

Cutting grass, setting riprap, trimming trees etc. I drink a galllon or so of water during the day and almost a gallon of Heinekens in the evening. I buy my Heinekens in Dulac because you can go into the store there barefoot.

Probably hose off every hour or so to stay cool. But it is fricking hot.

Spent last 10 days in Denver, rained almost every day and was in the 60s during the day. Knew I was home when I walked out of Louis Armstrong this afternoon into the 111 heat index.

I don’t ever remember feeling this hot, period. And the feels like temp being 123 where I am kinda solidifies what I felt was right

Oddly enough, I don’t sweat much other than my back for some reason. Any recommendations on how to remedy this?
