Toyota Highlander. Has 3rd row. Captain seats in middle row. Perfect for 2 car seats. Plenty of room for 2 kids. Fold down 3rd row for bigger cargo. Bought the wife’s in 2018, currently at 130,000 miles and everything operates like the day we bought it.
Anybody upgrading/upsizing because babies or young kids keep in mind those little frickers are gonna trash your $75,000 Tahoe in a matter of weeks.

Just bought a 24 tahoe and wife bought a new discovery 4 days later, so I’m definitely in the holy shite phase of car expenditures.
We both buy vehicles and keep them for 10+ years and we were both driving 2014s. Haven’t had a car note since 2018. Put 20 down and got 13 for 2014 silverado trade in so that cut into it a little bit. Had three dealerships get into a bidding war. Was able to knock a fair amount off sticker. Also got interest rate down to 4% because I wouldn’t accept anything higher and they wanted to make the sale.
The biggest thing for us is we just finished day care cost for ever. At its apex that was 35k a year so we played with the numbers and figured we could top out at 2300 a month on car notes which made me vomit but I knew we would be okay from a dollar standpoint. We are paying 1602 a month for both vehicles

Bought a 24 f250 lariat. I swore I’d never spend that much on a vehicle, but after discussing it with the cfo, we’ve never been in a better position to buy one even at that level. Replaced an 07 ram 2500 with 267k that was bought new.

We just aren't car people thankfully. We have 3 vehicles in the house and $450/mo in car payments.
When the kids were younger my wife drove a Honda Accord. I don't know why people think they need an Expedition for their family of 4

She easily drives the least nice car of any of the doctors in her practice, and many of the nurses drive nicer ones than her. Heck, half the nurses in my office drive newer and nicer cars than I do, too. We aren’t quite to the “looming failure” stage in either of our cars, but I make myself sick about what the replacements are going to cost us in another 5-10 years, and I honestly don’t know how (or why) many people that own vehicles like this are buying them
When I was a young boy and my father and I would be launching our little aluminum boat at the boat launch and others would be launching their expensive bay boats my Dad would say something along the lines about what they must live in. While we lived in a nice, custom built 2 story home.
So yeah, while some people are wealthy and can have nice bay boats and nice houses, the majority who drive nicer cars than your wife probably doesn't live in as nice as home as you do.

Make a convincing Facebook profile of a woman and you’re in
It would be a good place to meet single moms.

Why on earth would anyone spend that much on a vehicle and how are you affording it?
They are financing it.
Don't be surprised when these folks turn to you for money when they run out.
There's far more morons buying these things than people who can afford it.

now he told her she’s got to start paying her own $1,600/mo car payment. She’s upside down on the $70k loan and needs to come up with the first payment in a week
My wife and I make pretty good money. We could technically pay a $1600/mo note and probably not make major lifestyle adjustments, but my highest ever vehicle payment was $475/mo
I wouldn't be able to sleep at night with a $1600 payment.

Buying a grocery getter is not an investment and shouldn't be treated as such. Everyone knows they will lose value. Buy what you want and what you can afford. frick whatever anyone thinks.

Please tell me this is abnormal…
I’ve got a 2 year old bawette and I’ve been toying with the idea of daycare for socialization reasons, but got damn those are Ivy League prices you’re talking about.

trade-in + $10k down and your note would probably be in the $800ish range for 5 year financing
