Like Houston hasn't raped New Orleans of anything.... I hope those A-holes stay in some fleabag shite hole..

Apparently the new Tourist Tax that Mitch Landrieu implemented caused the prices for Rockets to skyrocket at the Westin where they usually stay. Lot of conferences are bolting New Orleans because of the increased costs due to the city's new taxing strategy.
Yeah you gotta link to this?

Yeah this is stupid.
And as someone else mentioned, they are really going to love that drive from BR to Nola. They are looking at at least 1.5 hours and lots of traffic

Please God let that bus get caught in that Kenner traffic.
So let me get this straight, they hon a fly into BR and stay there? How much cheaper can the rooms be? Let's say they keep 20 rooms....they can't be saving more than $40/rm (high estimate). So that's 800 savings but adding and hr and 1/2 on both sides of the game for travel plus the expense of the bus and escort?
LOL at those assclowns. Players union objections in 3...2....1...

Good. I like the Rockets more than the Pelicans, anyway.

This is laughable. The schedule came out a year ago. Whichever operations monkey F'ed up and didn't book a hotel in time should be fired. The players and management's time is MUCH more valuable than a couple of grand in hotel expenses.
ETA: they can't build hotels in NOLA fast enough, but anyone in this line of work should know that getting a hotel in Nola in March or April comes with an added cost.

They're also having their shoot around at the PMAC this afternoon before driving to NOLA for the game tonight.
Why not just have your shoot around in Houston this morning then fly into Nola this afternoon?
Don't think they would have a police escort to the arena so they don't get stuck in traffic?

Why do these guys have "shoot arounds" anyway?
fricking fly in, get there an hr earlier, and warm up for an hr....profit.....fly home.
Why do you need a hotel for a game THE NEXT NIGHT? It's not a noon tip-off

They are protesting the removal of the monuments.

Teams are required to spend the night before in the city (or close by) of the next game. It's to prevent games having to be cancelled due to travel issues.

Calm down Peter Pan, no one really cares. We are just having a discussion.

This reeks of an effort to keep guys off Bourbon Street the night before a game. Nothing more, nothing less.

Flying in from Houston is a hell of a lot easier than driving in from BR.

Houston is a great place to visit but a terrible place to live.
Posted on 3/17/17 at 8:46 am to TigerWise
It's a league policy. I'm Sure they could request a waiver but these guys don't ever fly in on a game day so they probably wouldn't want to mess with what they are used to.
