Apparently the new Tourist Tax that Mitch Landrieu implemented caused the prices for Rockets to skyrocket at the Westin where they usually stay. Lot of conferences are bolting New Orleans because of the increased costs due to the city's new taxing strategy.

Couldn't tell you, I do know that there are 6-7 conventions in nola over the next two days and getting a hotel room for this weekend has been very difficult. What's more likely, the team doesn't book rooms that far in advance or an NBA team is suddenly sticking it to the man by boycotting hotels in downtown New Orleans?

They could stay at my house. I've got an extra four or five bedrooms they can use.

They could have gotten rooms if they were willing to pay. NOLA hotels are never 100% booked. Maybe 95% during Mardi Gras and this weekend is no where near MG numbers.

I thought houston oil bounced back ?

Then I wish them well on their boycott, I'm sure the city will suffer without the rockets staying one night

I really couldn't care less. I just felt like starting a thread.

If they're complaining about prices being too high, they should boycott their own contracts and their league's ticket prices.
Btw, I'm so fricking sick of these dumbass athletes trying to make political statements. I watch sports for entertainment purposes, not for political views from a bunch of dudes who have no clue what they're talking about.

It's Spring Break and NOLA is a super popular travel location right now...hotels all booked solid this week.
Convention Center is also slammed right now. Traffic getting out of the city at 5pm has sucked dick this week.

This thread is the only thing that comes up in a google search for, "Rockets boycott New Orleans." Nothing on FOX 8 New Orleans or Juan's Twitter feeds either.
I can't imagine the players are happy about this. When the team moved, they all loved having the trips to NOLA. It's been one of the players and traveling media's favorite destinations. It sounds like something the team might do. Never heard anything bad about Houston's owners when it came to the team being cheap.
Guys like Cuban becoming owners exposed cheap owners around the league. Cuban not only had a buffet set up for the Mavs after every game, but also had one in the visiting team's locker room too. The fisrt year he did it the Knicks wanted it removed before the team came in after the game.
Can't imagine the players liking this move. The coaches might if it was during the playoffs.

This is some WNBA shite. What's next? Taking the greyhound bus because Southwest tickets are too high?

You talking about the fig figs or the beer figs ? I think you are getting to two confused.

Hotels are booked higher than Mardi Gras right now. The Royal Sonesta, which did not sell out for NYE or MG, overbooked and had to buy people rooms this weekend in Baton Rouge.
