There is no need for pimps if hookers can have a space of their own and protection provived by the law. There has been and always will be the demand for sex, might as well just be honest with ourselves and protect innocent people. It also allows people to know that their hookers are clean of STDs provided that the state demands regular testing.
What happened to the Clark family would still be considered illegal.

The issue is that in most cases, in order for a woman to be willing to become a prostitute, she has hit rock bottom. So they are willing to put themselves into horrible situations you see in the "black market". Who's to say that wouldn't happen in the legalized market? Who's to say a brothel wouldn't charge them 90% to work there? Who's to say they still wouldn't be doing this act to support the same terrible habit they were when it was illegal.
Sure some women can get what she wants out of the deal. But that nasty crack ho is still going to be a nasty crack ho, except now she'll pay taxes.

ETA: I love all of the white knights in here that view all women as pure virgins that would never engage in sexualized behavior if it weren't for evil men.

All of this is correct. People think that because a industry now has a thumbs-up, that people don't abuse the new system in place. It happens. LINK

Man, some of y'all have this really fixed idea of why women get into this profession. You probably would be shocked at the number of regular college girls who engage in this on occasion.
Before it was made illegal in most places, there were brothels and the women who worked there treated it like a regular job.
