Which is kind of the point of the whole complaint.
That area is out in the middle of goddamn nowhere. Does not bring in tax dollars to Zachary. Does not have services from anywhere. Yet it is being dropped out there solely to flood the school district with 1000+ new homes.
That is the kind of shite that people bitch about whenever a Walmart is built yet it is OK because “her people” benefit.

Horton is starting to get a lot of heat in Louisiana. Not sure if all of their plans in Zachary will actually happen.
Horton has been the subject of a number of lawsuits due to building quality which doesn’t meet requirements. I know that they got sued over at least one subdivision in Lafayette over it.

Isn't fire and police coming from Baker?
Honestly that piece of land makes a lot more sense to me as an Industrialplex type of development with distribution centers and light manufacturing. There is a real shortage of flex/distribution space in the Baton Rouge metro area. That development they started off Industrial Drive in Geismar has filed up extremely quickly. There is a lot of demand for that in the Baton Rouge area.

Would make sense to me considering it is within spitting distance of BTR, meaning easy access to air freight and reasonable distance from river shipping.

I don’t have much love for developers. Almost every city and overall in the state shows stagnant population growth yet every damn parish it seems has done major developments with more generic apartments that go to shite in 10 years, generic subdivisions, and generic strip malls. Yet the population areas are the same as they were 20 years ago.
I’d rather woods or a field. I’d rather politicians care more about that man’s concerns than a developer. Frick the developer. Go build a shitty arse subdivision only for most of the owners to be wealthy out of towners, real estate companies etc renting them out or making them airbnbs

Let’s cut down 200 acres of trees, build 250 houses. Flooding starts suddenly happening and all the politicians and homeowners there are always SHOCKED!! “WE CANT BELIEVE THIS!!”

I don't know much about the construction quality in there. Since it's built after 1995 I'm going to assume it's not very good. The houses look far nicer than everything else around it though, including the one with the sign out front.
They have a nice looking Y and a park in there. But at this stage in life, I'm not really interested in the smaller lots though. That's probably more appealing for older people that drive around in golf carts. I lived in an area like that when we were in Chicago. The lack of privacy and space eventually drove me crazy, but I liked that I didn't have to shovel much snow or do any lawn maintenance.
Is that the same developer that did Willow Grove in Baton Rouge? It looks very similar.

Those homes were all built by Level Homes.
IIRC, that builder is connected with Tommy Spinoza, notorious shitbag developer responsible for the Perkins Rowe apartments and Rouzan subdivision in BR.
