No one has said the gun was "aimed at people" except two people in this thread who obviously can't read.

YOU mentioned aiming it at people first!

Was it aimed at people?

There were several guns on this sill. SHow me how they were located, give me a description of this "sill."

Then you'll be panicking for the right reasons.

The fricking quote you referenced in your post never said aimed, you did.

Not you. Several others have which shows their lack of ability to make informed decisions.

Damn scary stuff

Mental illness is a huge problem in our society

Since when is being a criminal a mental illness? Are we saying all criminals are mentally ill? So if you aren't doing right, you are mentally ill?

Is that the path we are going down?

Is being evil "mentally ill" or just evil?

Well you keep calling me an idiot I believe. That's unfortunate, I don't think you're an idiot.

The government has failed to prevent every mass shooting since 1789. We know the government fails to prevent is terrible at fortune telling. They’ll do better, though. We just need to give them more power, and arrest anyone capable of committing a mass shooting.

Did the guy offer any plausible reason to have the rifle with him at the time?

Wrong, its stupid to have a loaded rifle in a hotel.
However, that doesn't make it suspicious.
Exactly. How would a mass murder be impeded by having to rack a round?

Draw me a picture of this. Thanks. What is a strong scope? Appreciate it.

Just trying to see how you justify your fear.

Why are yall so stupidly dramatic about this? The guy wasn't charged with anything to do with a mass shooting. He was charged with the crimes he 100% committed.

Yall seem pissed he was interrupted at all, which is absolutely insane to me. If you can't read this and immediately think it was shady as frick, I'm not sure what you would find shady except an actual mass shooting event.

Not that's been reported, but I'm guessing the FBI will be getting deep into the investigation of why he was in town by himself on the 4th of July holiday (with his wife and kids at home), and a bunch of guns and ammo laid out overlooking a beach and Navy Pier where huge crowds were going to be gathering.

If he had any ill intent I'm sure it will come out and additional charges will be added to the ones they've already put on him.

Well this is dumb. Had he been caught no one would have ever known his motives.

Seems like a normal situation. Why wouldnt someone want to be well armed if they were visiting Chicago?

Might be illegal but its better than being dead.

If it was reported like this story, are you going to tell me you'd be reacting differently than you are in here?

I'm saying this is bizarre and alarming behavior to any sane person. That's it.
But that’s a problem. Your presumption of his intentions IS a problem. We’re kinda picking on you because you’re here. It’s by no means isolated to you. The propagandists have been building the narrative that anyone with a scary gun is a latent criminal for decades. They taught that we should fear anyone with a gun—which is dumber than being scared to fly. You’re just providing the result of that in real time.

Its expected here.

If he was busted for illegal guns, no issue with that. I have no issue with the charges this guy faces.

I have huge issues with people who see fairly common events and turn into drama queens, and assume something nefarious when there is no evidence otherwise to suggest.
