I think I've told you the story before, but my family was down at Delta Downs back in the 90's for a horse race. There was a gap in the railing for tractors to get on and off the track. A horse shishkabobbed itself on the pole. It hit dead center of the chest and stuck out his right hindquarter.
Took a tractor to back/pull him off.

Usually horses are all going in the same direction on the track afternoons and evenings.
Morning workout time is when it is mass chaos.
thats dumb..just make them all go in the same direction all the time

Horse was obviously worth some money, otherwise he would have survived without a scratch.

That's awful
Yep. It was supposed to be closed off for races, but apparently someone forgot to shut the gap off.

Truth. Same goes for cows.

Very, very true. But not without a scratch. With loads of bet bills.

I was at the Fairgrounds when a horse went down in the final stretch right in front of the stands. Just nosed in and threw the rider down the track. They came out with a couple of trucks and strung up a black tarp between the horse and the audience.
The crowd was jabbering and then there was the single gunshot. You would have thought they would use an injection. The crowd got real quiet after that.

There was not a gunshot unless this was way back in the day.
They get the pink juice.

horseshite.
if you're gonna lie, at least make it believable. They don't use guns, PERIOD, END OF DISCUSSION. "Pink Juice" (T61, maybe?) was discontinued years ago- shame cause it was very effective.
They usually don't even euthanize the horse on the track unless the injury is cataclysmic. they'll load them in the ambo and nuke them on the backside.
If you heard an actual gunshot, it was one of the patrons robbing someone, came from the surrounding hood, or was an owner shooting a jockey for throwing a race.

a horse is a horse, of course, of course
until that horse goes off the course and into the wall
that is of course now the horse is dead

I wonder if the horse's name was Earnhardt?

Just this past year a horse was shot behind a tarp. Likely a silenced handgun, but it still happens

That's how Glenn Frey died

They may use a captive bolt method, but I am hard pressed to believe a reputable (yeah, right) track used an actual firearm to dispatch a horse.

Damn. So I've been calling it pink stuff incorrectly for years?
That is correct. If they can, they will load anything into the ambulance to take backside to put down. My mare's half shattered both fronts in the champion's day juvenile last year, but thankfully it was on the back stretch.
Can I still keep calling it pink juice?
