haven't been keeping up with this. Can someone give me a quick summation?

It’s a mess, fueled by people’s desire to know the who, what, when, where, and why within mere minutes of something happening.

There was a shooting at the mall.

Cops show up.

This guy gets shot. I believe he was armed but don’t quote me on that.

Initially it was reported he was the shooter, but now they’re saying he wasn’t the one that shot the two people.

The shooter wasn't. The active duty Army guy was the one that helped tend to the 12 yr old girl that got shot.

Don't most people get a CCL to protect themselves and others? Maybe he felt the need to protect himself.

After all, isn't one of the lines that's always spouted in the 2nd Amendment debate, "a good guy with a gun can stop a bad guy with a gun," brought up in these situations?

Are we assuming this guy was a bad guy?

Granted, one must be smarter when the cops arrive.

RIP Li Glock. It's BS that the police saw you as a threat.

Police show up and shoot a Guy that had a gun. But he wasn’t the shooter.

A. Was he told by officers to put down the gun?
B. Did he put down the gun?
C. BANG!

It's gonna get good. The protesters have vowed to show up at City Hall. Heavy police presence and they have closed off the parking lot to City Hall.

The guy on the right is the lawyer for the family of the man shot.

All of the news broadcasts that I saw showed him wearing fatigues because he was in the military
The Army does not recognize him as part of their organization.

The family spun the story to say he was an officer in the Army home for the Thanksgiving Holiday. This is 100% false.

Of course the family will make the deceased look better. This isn't a black thing, all races do this. Just read most obituaries.
So, I do not fault the family for "buttering" up a bit of this guy's recent past.

The Hoover PD is going to get hell for this, and I'm not so sure they don't deserve it.

My guess, repeat, my guess, is that the videos are not shedding good light on the police man that shot the innocent guy. Hence, the state of Alabama took over the investigation and basically put the Hoover PD in it's place.
Even if the guy was waving his gun, how did the policeman try to diffuse the situation?

Of course they did. Do you really fault them for this? Their son/ brother got shot and killed by a Hoover policeman likely without getting a chance to defend himself. It was more likely (until I see a video otherwise) a case of shoot first, ask questions second.

I'm not going to expect them to try to diffuse much if a guy is holding a gun with his finger near the trigger. They supposed to wait to be shot at first?

I'm not always right but I try to pay attention and make informed judgements.

This City Council meeting isn't about a dead guy. This is about protecting the revenue that comes from the Galleria at Christmas. These protests are hurting the Galleria and I'll bet they are looking for ways to end that without bad optics.

Yet most comments I see on my social media are in regards to police officers shooting to kill rather than wound.

If they had any knowledge of police/military training they would know there is no formal training in regards to shooting to wound.
