Honk: People are quitting their jobs at record rates. That's a good thing for the economy.

quote:

White is one of millions of American workers who've quit their jobs in recent months. Even with 9.8 million people unable to find employment, others are quitting at record rates — pushing the "quits rate" to never-before-seen levels.

Some workers are leaving for new jobs, with better pay or remote-friendly working conditions. Others have decided to start their own businesses rather than collect a paycheck. Still others are quitting with no firm plans, confident they can get a better deal elsewhere as the economy rebounds from the pandemic recession.

quote:

Nearly 4 million Americans left their jobs in April, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics — an unprecedented number in the two decades the government has been tracking this data, pushing the quits rate 24% higher than it was before the pandemic. (Layoffs, which peaked at 13 million in March 2020, have come down to more typical monthly levels of under 2 million.)

I don't actually see in this article where they explain how this is all "good for the economy".

Biden is President, therefore this is good news.

That isn’t a joke, by the way.

That is more than likely the reason behind why they put that in the title, to protect the current ruling party that the writer supports.

Other examples include the recent references to inflation and how it is either “a good thing” or “not a thing if you correct for it”.

Same general thing was seen when Trump was president, but usually from the other direction.

Scruffy vaguely remembers an article during Trump’s tenure (although he can’t find it) where it was argued that lower gas prices were bad because it increased car wrecks and injuries.

Hell, that could have been a Babylon Bee article and Scruffy just can’t tell the difference anymore.

This is just the duplicitous and Pravda-esque nature of our current media.

As for the article’s title, no, there is nothing good about mass numbers of people quitting their jobs.

Clowns!

Notice Yahoo Finance is complaining about Biden's economy after cheering him to "victory."

All of these unemployed idiots think they can leverage pay raises. They are only speeding up inflation.

This.

I live in Alexandria, VA, and the foodservice industry is really feeling it up here. The local bar I go to on the reg has had so many people quit over the last eight months. For a while, it was just the bar owner working behind the bar and waiting tables. He would leave the OPEN sign off even though he was open to keep customers at a minimum.

shite is bad right now because people don't want to work. They've gotten used to sitting at home and doing jack shite thanks to the lockdowns.

This is B.S.

Most people are leaving their job to sit at home and collect unemployment.

Back in my day, we went to work at the factory, stayed 30 years, got the gold watch, and lived off my pension. Look at all these entitled and coddled soft millennials who want to live their own lives. Pathetic.

From a news information standpoint, the US of today might as well be Nazi Germany, Soviet Russia, or Communist China. There is no independent major media left. All we have is progressive propaganda apparatuses masquerading as “news”.

Agree with them or not, they do point out why they believe it’s good for the economy

quote:

Workers are in a rare sweet spot — primed to push for more pay, better work-from-home arrangements and other perks they feel they need to stay, and with plenty of options if they leave.

"Employers, employees, and job seekers will all need to sort out what they want in the future. Given the tightness of the labor market, employees and job seekers may have a stronger hand right now," said Nick Bunker, research director for the Indeed Hiring Lab

Bold strategy Cotton.

Wait until they find out that all the labor shortages are menial jobs in the service industry and every job that doesn't suck is getting 10-100 or even 100+ applicants.

They already have.

The Chinese economy is projected to overtake the US economy by 2028.

Scruffy is positive we will see articles by the American Pravda about how “that is a good thing”.

If someone isn’t working in this environment it’s because they choose not to.

Period.

I’ll be one of these in December. But that was all planned pre-pandemic with completion of my Masters.

This is bizarre to me. These people just quitting won’t draw unemployment because they’re not being laid off.
