Update***We have hit triple digit murders in EBRP with a few more days to spare. Good luck Murphy Paul.

quote:

With the death Thursday of a woman who was shot earlier this week by her boyfriend, the number of killings in East Baton Rouge Parish hit a record number, according to the FBI's crime statistics and records maintained by The Advocate.

quote:

Authorities identified the victim as 34-year-old LaQuetra Pidgeon.

quote:

Her death marks a record high of 97 homicides in one year for East Baton Rouge Parish with about three weeks still remaining before the end of 2017, according to records maintained by The Advocate.

Advocate Article

I guess Speedy got tired of having to update his thread so much. Still 3 weeks to go to hit the century mark. Way to go NBR.

And which OT'er wrote this comment on The Advocate article?

quote:

Thugs? How dare you call these upstanding providers that. You and I both know that the majority of these criminals are male, white, Christian, conservative, straight, Republicans that do not pay their fair share of taxes and are robbing the recipients of their rightful confiscation. Get it right before I pull out the race card on you.

Sharon Broome is mayor.

This shouldn't surprise anyone. BRPD is having mass exoduses and no one wants to work in this shite hole so no new applicants. BR is doomed under mayor doom.

Why would anyone want to be a police officer in BR?

Starting salary in the 30Ks, you could make more as a waiter and wouldn’t have to be killed by a pulling over a gang member. And God forbid you ever have to use your weapon in the line of duty, no matter how justified, you’ll be crucified publicly, lose your job, and your family will receive death threats.

You’d have to start the starting salary for police officers in any major city in Louisiana to at least 65k to attract reasonably intelligent recruits.

Yep. Mayor Broome and her “police reform” have done wonders. It’s amazing how fast Baton Rouge has gone to hell in a hand basket since this bitch took office. It’s barely been a year and the murder rate is at an all-time high, the police department is in shambles, and her incompetence has all but assured that St. George will rise in 2018.

I think she can get to that triple digit score if she really pushes it.

This is yet another example of "The Ferguson Effect". Cops don't want to work in a department that gets demonized for everything they do by a political administration. They also refuse to put themselves in dangerous situations that will ruin their lives and careers if they have to defend themselves. This falls squarely on SWBs administration and the devisive, so called "community leaders" they choose to surround themselves with.

Well said. You nailed it. From the very beginning with the blatantly racist report put out by her transition team, her administration has demonized law enforcement. Her new police chief will be a puppet who will push her so-called reform tactics.

No way I'd want to be a BR police officer when I could do the same job in Livingston, Ascension, Central, Zachary and not have to deal with the shite that BRPD does.

Speedy’s thread dealt with how many people were killed, not by the Police, where none of the community activists said a word. His thread concluded a few weeks back when there was an Officer involved shooting on McClelland.

The real problem is that the NBR folks have been swindled into following this modern progressive ideology on race, police, social justice, etc. and SWB capitalized on that. Unfortunately, that ideology simply projects blame on intangible concepts that cannot be combated in any sort of measurable way (which is the original intent of the creators). So these communities are never forced to look inward to take care of the real problems they face. When that strategy is implemented on a larger scale, you see here just how naive and dangerous it really is. Again, the saddest part about the whole thing is that it overwhelmingly and disproportionately affects the very people it claims to help. But, it makes everyone feel good when they say "speaking truth to power" and "seeking justice" while the bodies stack up like cord wood.

Explain the high murder rate in the 90’s with all white mayors?

That was really a national trend. The crazy part about this is that the national homicide numbers are near all time lows while EBRP hit a record. That's pretty significant.
