maybe, but it might have to do with business, and more people might be involved than the killers...

Not sure yet. Someone else closer to investigation may know.

It's not related to business. He didn't have any real enemies.

I guess by business he could possibly mean house keeper, home repair, maintenance, etc.

That's my first guess as to who is behind all this.

in cases like this it's depressing to think that well respected couples get murdered for a couple of fixes. i want to think someone had a good reason to want them dead so that it's not so senseless

I know it’s been covered, but that family is LOADED. Their kin owned massive amounts of prime real estate in Baton Rouge and a lot was sold off for a fortune. They still own a very large chunk too that is worth another fortune.

They are very low-key about their wealth too. Not flashy new money. Baton Rouge doesn’t have a lot of old money folks like say, New Orleans, but if we do, it’s the Duplantiers.

Supposed to be great folks too. Very sad. I’m curious if they’ll release what was stolen once they catch these pieces of shite.

ETA:

Big family though, so no clue how much this couple owned/inherited. Very sad stuff.

I understand you feeling that way, but the empty safe leads one to believe that is was about the money. Very sad.

Mike, I can confirm for you that it was an older couple who lived there and they have a daughter.

I was mistaken about that being the house. She lived next door(4952 Highland). But I actually have been to the Duplantier's house years ago b/c a friend was on painting crew(circa 96). Thus the confusion. Thanks.

But anyhow, To see this type of crime(targeting older couples with safes in hosue) happen to the Marchands and now the Duplantiers in BR is fricking infuriating.

fricking infuriating and tragic.

I had a co-worker that lived just a couple of houses down from the deceased couple. He said that ever since Katrina all those houses on that southwest side of Highland Road around the murdered couple's house had problems with burglaries. The perps would come through the woods behind the houses and kick in the doors.

In this case it sounds like the couple probably knew their killers.

I'll ask this again, and maybe it is a stupid question. Since the license plate number has been released, does anyone here have access to the database tht would identify the owner of the vehicle? Do only the police have that access? Would it be illegal to post on a forum such as this?

From DMV.org:

quote:

How do I find a person by their license plate number?

It is illegal to run a license plate check on someone else, regardless of the circumstances. Only a member of law enforcement can run a license plate or lookup license plate numbers to find vehicle owner information.

I know there are people that have access to this information that have posted on here before. I'd imagine it would be HIGHLY unethical and most likely a felony to post their information on this board. Most likely the people with this information are going to be more cautious than usual considering the proximity of the crime. Also, whoever it was who has access (don't remember exact poster) may actually be employed by BRPD and would risk losing his job to post it on here.

I was told by a family friend there are 3 daughters and they had someone living behind the property that works for them who may be the suspect. The sheriff department confirmed it was someone who knew them.

Yeah, I figured there was a good chance it was illegal but I knew that it had been done on here before. Just figured I'd ask. Thanks for all the info.

Sorry, the vicitims' names were Denis & Suzanne Duplantier, but according to the article When In Rome posted on p. 9, Denis went by Bubbie.

I don't know them, but my wife knows the daughter. Apparently, they were the nicest folks you'll ever meet. They deserved better than this, and it makes me sick that life is so worthless to some scum among us.
