Home fans chanting overrated after big upset

The most recent example was Purdue fans after beating Ohio State. This always seemed odd to me. It’s as if you are belittling the win. “You were not as good as we thought so this win is really not that big a deal.”

What a stupid fricking idea for a thread. Fans are pumped their team is upsetting a higher ranked team, and an overrated chant is just a bunch of happy sportsdrunk fans trying to rub salt in the wound. Give me a break.

I have heard this sentiment before but it’s a fairly ridiculous thing to think imo.
I mean fans are just excited in the moment and trying to make the opponents feel like shite about losing. It doesn’t need to be overanalyzed.

When LSU beat Okie State in the now Smoothie King Center in ‘99, the chant was in full force but I did not chime in. I felt like it took away from our accomplishment.
