I have never been big into guns growing up, nor am I now either, but it seems as the years go on and crazy shite keeps happening I have come to the conclusion of buying a gun for home defense to protect my family.

We have a single shot 20 gauge shotgun thats been in the family for years that I will have which is probably more for just shooting stuff with and not for defense and I dont really think my wife will be able to use it in case I am not home.

I have looked into getting a Mossberg Pump Action 12 gauge 18.5 inch barrel, something quick, can hold more shells, and can be something my wife can handle if I am away.

So I ask, what type of guns do you keep at the house for home defense? And what kind of gun do you recommend for home defense?

Thanks!

Go with a semi auto shotgun. Less recoil for the little lady.

Alphabetical or by caliber? I'm sorry I can't help you though because I don't have any guns anymore since the freak accident and they are all gone now. Nope, not even one.

I recommend you get comfortable with guns first. Go shoot different ones and get familiar with them.

I have no idea why people recommend pistols for home defense, especially for women.

I've been around guns and am familiar with shooting guns and I can't hit shite with pistols.

I'd much rather my wife just point and shoot with a shotgun than trying to aim with a pistol.

I have friends out in west texas and go clay shooting with them once a year lol and they recommended the mossberg pump, which we have used while shooting.

Do shooting ranges usually let you rent different guns to shoot and try out? Sorry if that seems like a stupid question.
