Are they all equal or depends on what you want? Looking at possible upgrades.

Put a big arse dog in your backyard.

Definitely get one that doesn't have some kind of false trigger or your dog will be shot dead on your back patio.

I've heard Vivint is decent but I really don't want an alarm company that goes door to door.
We found the highest rated local service and got them. Was more expensive, but customer service is great and the equipment is better than the standard stuff.

Very over-priced hardware, sketchy sales reps and installers, horrible customer service.
Other than that, they're fine.

I have had three local systems (Custom Security was probably the best). I recently built a camp away from my house and was recommended to go to alarm.com, choose options of what I wanted, then it gives you a list of local certified dealers. Really impressed with their equipment and smart phone/pad/computer interfaces and controls.
I put in the remote thermostat control, remote locking, remote arming, and remote light control. It messages your phone if temps get out of range, when system is armed/disarmed, when power is lost, etc.
Pricing is very reasonable.
I encourage you to check out the site but can't vouch for any dealers local to you that appear. The beauty is they do certify and support local dealers.
