A lady that lived on eagle was arrested in Kenner today with 8 pounds of Coke. Maybe their anger is just being projected at the church

I comprehend it as he doesn't understand why it's a bad thing. At least that's how it reads.

I believe you and a few others that said that are correct.....I think

Either way, that one quote doesn't change the meat of the story

Best thing that could happen to that area is the residents not be in that area anymore.

I have an idea for relocation. Huge farms out in the Midwest. Gov't housing where they can work in the fields in exchange for food and shelter.

They always interview the guys that claim they talk for the community (and don't even live there) at large that oppose things like this. Its almost never the actual residents that are against projects like the one presented here.

Almost like the coverage of the recent debate about Statues in NOLA.

Bookmarked this just because I want to pull this up if people try to tell me blacks aren't for more racist and get away with it. The world news would be there if races were reversed.

What is with the new euphemism of "people that look like me/us"? I've heard Michele Obama use this. Just say "blacks" or "African American" or whatever.

Marshall still voted against the church's community center, just for different reasons... seems like he listened to both parties arguments and then based his vote on non-racial component, like traffic.

quote:

Marshall cast the lone vote against granting the church the permits it needs to operate the center, saying he had concerns about the increased foot traffic, but the City Council will have the ultimate say on whether the project moves forward or not.

A way to further divide the world instead of bringing it together.

Also, for Michelle and the left," people that look like us" can be expanded to include all non white people instead of just black people.

Best thing that can happen to Hollygrove is for Xavier to expand and expand and expand and demolish that neighborhood down to the ground.

That's Gertown over there. Hollygrove is across Carrollton.

Their reaction is foolish and divisive. On the other hand, if a group wanted to open a mega dollar store or a gym for inner city BREC games around the country club of Louisiana, their reaction would be similar. They might not use the same words, but your reasons would be the same.

That has 0 chance of improving the area.

And it would be a matter of the thug and criminal element coming into the community. Nothing to do with race.

You're being obtuse and ignorant Tangerine.

You may try to read unto or infer that there is a racial motivation, but this story literally has the community saying we don't want whites around d here

You can bet he does not know what the owners of the local Dollar Store and section 8 housing look like. Nor does he care.

While this may play a role, you are being naive if you think people around CCLA want even large groups of law abiding black people setting up shops and homes. Even one family moving next door raises eyebrows. Shoot most people here have heard comments from friends or family when a black family even looks at a house in their white hood. But I repeat my point, the group in the OP is being foolish and divisive

Some racism right here by tangerine

People with money hate black people?

You are being naive if you don't think that your types are part of the problem. Be smart, be responsible, be civic. Could care freaking less about color or creed. Sheesh
