Sounds like they need to look at their hiring practices if they keep bringing in terrible new hires

Exactly. A lifetime of being pandered to and pampered instead of being educated and disciplined into mature, functioning adults.

25 years old is the new 13 years old.

40 years old is the new 25 years old.

I don't know that it is an attribute of an entire generation, but I have noticed that many people entering the professional workforce are incredibly lazy, lackadaisical, and unwilling to make sacrifices to achieve personal excellence. They take no pride in their work or their careers. It's the first group of people I've ever encountered in professional life who don't believe in either diligence or merit. It's as if some of them genuinely think that they are entitled to high compensation without any effort or exceptional quality. If they don't get it, they band together and whine about some imaginary grievance, rather than improving. Just odd. There are still individuals of all ages who work hard and want to be excellent in their fields, but it seems rarer than it was ten years ago.

This is what Boomers and GenX were saying about Mill's. Now Mill's saying it about Z.

Mill's, what you are seeing in Z is exactly what we were seeing in you when you were younger.

Im genuinely shocked that the "bosses" know they are GenZ. Usually, all Boomers call everyone under the age of 50 a millinial

From what I've observed, the Millennials have a bigger sense of entitlement and believe that their feelings are much more important than their work ethic and productivity.

They've been babied by their parents and given participation trophies throughout their lives. They've never been told "frick NO!" in their lives. Even the universities are caving to their demands which is why so many of them have 3.9 GPAs and high schools have 17 Valedictorians. These same kids would have had 2.5 GPAs back before the 1990s because they wouldn't have had all of these "practice tests," study aids, and tutoring sessions. Back then, you were pretty much on your own.

And, unfortunately, as they were being coddled to and told how "special" they are, no one told them that the real fricking world doesn't work that way.

Most people are tired of making the same wages their parents did, inflation adjusted. When you add that to the increasingly catastrophic world that is corporate consolidation and private equity ownership, being an employee can be bleak AF. Wonder why they feel this way after watching their parents rake it in

Millennials are even taken aback by how slack Gen Z is.

Gen Z is legitimately worse with computers than the average boomer. It's remarkable, really, but the iPhone dumbed down technology to Fischer-Price level.

Maybe, but there is nothing worse than a boomer white knighting a siri answer.

Uncle was arguing with me over kids tuition prices- I had just wrote the check that week, but siri was the 'more correct' answer for him.

Not even in the same realm. Gen Z is far different than millennials.

I’m 40 and agree with the other concerns but if you’re not working with the public who cares if your staff are wearing jeans and t-shirts? Just get the work done.

have hired two Gen Zers recently. While they are both hard workers and pretty self-motivated, their lack of how to behave in an office is what gets me. I was in a closed door meeting with my boss (our president) the other day and one just throws the door open and starts talking. Just little things like that...time will tell if they work out.

That can be corrected though

We just hired 3 gen Z'ers and I'll tell you I'm pleasantly surprised.

All of them have good work ethic, come to the office everyday, dress nicely and can communicate well.

I don't know if we hired well and lucked out or if these reports are overblown.
