quote:A leg going up while on the ground isn’t a leg doing up to a head while skating. You’re lying about it happening all the time. I watch tons have hockey. My friends and I have been talking about this all day. Of course, racism is being brought into it on Twitter saying anyone who thinks it was on purpose hates black people. Even though this guy is known for his penalty minutes and being kicked out of games (which takes a lot in hockey).
You can see in hockey games all the time when players lose balance their leg kicks up

Goes for the hard check on man with puck, left skate catches ice and turns and he loses his balance
You can see the skate catch blade and kick up as he loses balance contacting the guy in front, so he tries to still get the hit by kinda leaping into it

He was turning to go behind the guy he grazes. No one I’ve spoken to thinks he missed the first guy as if that was his target.

or it just looks like a leg kick at the opponent.

Yeah, that's not what happens. The kick was intentional.

So just to be clear call are saying it’s on purpose flying karate style kick?

That guy should be banned from playing any kind of hockey again. I doubt he tried to kill him, but he was trying to hurt the guy for sure.

Certainly appears to be

he saw the opponent with the puck, appeared to be a deliberate leg check contact. you don't get a pass for saying "well i wasn't trying to de-throat the guy when i leg and skate checked the guy".

You’ve never been on skates. It’s okay. You don’t kick up a leg like that if you lose control or if it catches. Not that it catches. No one but you sees that it seems. He already has his weight on his left side. If his left leg catches, he falls with his feet coming out from under him. Picking up that leg wa intentional imo. That high or for the neck specifically? No way to know if his intention was any more than simply hurting him. I would assume not.

I am surprise this sort of injury doesn't happen more often honestly...
Google Clint Malarchuk 1989 NHL Buffalo Sabres, horrific
He had his jugular partially severed on live TV and in that incident you can see the blood squirt with his heart beat as he tries to squeeze his neck with his hands to stop the flow......He survived by the heroics of Buffalos trainer, ex vitnam medic.
Cajungoalie always wore a plexiglass neck shield that dangled below the chin of the mask and a kevlar neck collar...beacause frick that shite!

This has happened before. Unless the guy gas a reputation for violence or the two had a problem, this is probably an accident.

We didn’t play much hockey growing up in Pineville. So I don’t know enough to have an educated opinion.
