This. The reason all new music today sucks because all the great stuff has been written and played.

I just imagine when this generation gets older are they still gonna listen to rap?

I mean, I'm 35 and still listen to 80-early 00s rap. With the occasional newer artist.

That said, I also listen to a wide range of music. Before I was born through present.

About 15-20 years I thought rap was going out. I thought people in the country were growing up and maturing and being less trashy and their music would reflect that. Boy was I wrong. The trash music reflects the trash populace.

No its because too many people are stuck in the past. Rock fans want every band to sound exactly like Led Zeppelin or The Rolling Stones or else its terrible. You don't see rap fans bitching about new acts not sounding like Run DMC or LL Cool J.

Well yeah, but I think there's a difference between "If you're goiiiiing to Sannnn Frannnn..cisco...Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair"

And

"All skeet skeet skeet skeet"

Just like the decline of America, this non music music has caused music to decline greatly.

My biggest problem with rap is it's tendency to suck live.

Yep. I've been to several rap shows. The only one I was disappointed with, was The Roots. They were great. But they also had a full band with a tuba, and I had Molly. So that might played a factor.

I think Curt Hennig and the West Texas Rednecks said it best:

i cant name a single rock band that makes music right now that is worth their weight in shite.

I sort of live in a bubble where music is concerned. I probably go see 20-30 live shows a year. (Granted 20 of those are for the same band)

MTV and streaming music apps have certainly changed the way we are exposed to new music, but there is plenty of great music out there if you just go poke around.

While I'm not a fan, The Foo Fighters seem to be doing very well.

My perception is millennials seem to gravitate towards emo type bands like Fall Out Boy and 21 Pilots.

And to be honest Rap is really just a form of Rock.

Actually it predates rock, having been done in both country (Woody Guthrie) and "race" music

Late 90's to early 00's southern rap is still one of my favorite genres. I have a pretty wide taste in music, from classic rock to bluegrass to classical and some opera. Most of the shite produced in the last 10 years for the mainstream is absolute shite, though, regardless of genre.
