can be a bit challenging if you don't drive it much.
there is not a single paved roadway south of the ozark mountains that is “challenging” to drive for a healthy ambulatory adult. If you find highland road challenging you should probably put away your car keys

The fact is, people have to slow down and stop all the time on highland due to turning vehicles. There are some blind spots too going up or down hills and you may not know when there’s a backup (at Pecue for example). I loathe slow drivers too but that stretch from Seigen and the interstate is twisty with many blind areas. Go the speed limit and get off the phone.

What the hell is up with people not going the speed limit on this street. It’s a 45 most of the way and people drive 35. If you can’t do the speed limit on the road, stay off of it!!!

Highland is one of those roads you go on only when you HAVE to. Way too many bluehairs between CCLA and LSU. Take Perkins or Burbank, using Highland or other roads as a bypass.

First of all - I don't think that's true - second of all I didn't say it was for me I say I could see that one stretch being a challenge at night for one who's never driven it. There is even a turn in that stretch where the speed limit is actually reduced. Lot's of anger on this - road rage is real though.

There are stretches of Highland that are particularly difficult at night. There are entrances to side streets that aren’t illuminated and are hard to find. People come in and out of subdivisions and their driveways up and down Highland. Then there are commercial areas scattered through there.

45 is fine when the traffic is light, but when there’s traffic it’s better to slow down than rear end someone trying to find Providence.

Yes, as of August 1, 2025, it is illegal in Louisiana to drive in the left lane of a multi-lane highway at any speed below the posted limit, not just 10 mph under. Violating this "slow left lane" law (Act 24) can result in fines starting at $150, increasing to $350, and potential 30-day jail
Google it

Are you really this stupid???? Highland is a 2 lane road. There is no left lane. fricking moron

This thread exemplifies why insurance is higher in Louisiana.

Stay out of Houma. The other day I was stuck behind a line of cars doing 35 in a 55. Felt like I was in a fricking parade.

35 is too slow to drive on Highland Rd under normal conditions. You will have a line of cars backing up behind you. Anyone should be able to safely drive 45mph as long as the traffic is moving.

Again, what part of Highland and of course conditions matter, night or day, familiarity with the road if it's the stretch between Siegen and I-10, visibility.
