Boomers refuse to retire and are taking all the good jobs and their college only costed $3.50 per semester....

A lot less college grads to compete with then.

Your degree matters a lot more now.

^THIS. And I agree with this as a millennial (although technically I should be early Gen Z)

Also, one must factor in the rise of student loan availability and other financial incentives government (federal and state)

Life was much easier out of college for boomers. MUCH MUCH easier. Any degree had value then.
