My brother in law just graduated a year ago and he and all of his buddies would have shotgun shells and rifle rounds in their trucks on a regular basis. Private school in the south, though. Still.

This is just insane, these people are fricking dicks.

His family had to give their guns to the grandparents, now he isn't allowed to see his grandparents because they have his dad's guns.

The internet started a petition to get the charges thrown out and the prosecution went crazy and the court threatened sanctions on the kid because they got hammered with hate mail because people found out about the overcharging.

I want to know what they got on the kid that links him to being a potential school shooter...

Right.

No gun has ever up and killed some one by itself. But just because there are crazy people out there doesn't mean everyone should surrender their rights to have one.

Now this kids life is derailed, and he apparently is not a threat.

It's like the thinking is, lets ruin anyones life who makes an honest mistake in order to scare any potential shooter, who has obviously decided to actually shoot people and ruin his own life.

Jerome Brockway, the A-Tech superintendent, declined to discuss the case and referred questions to the county prosecutor.

"We charge [people] with everything that we feel they are guilty of, and in this case, he is guilty of a felony," Harold Specht, the chief assistant prosecutor at the Ashtabula County prosecutor's office, told HuffPost.

"I was in jail for almost 13 days," Wiser said. "The first bond hearing I went to was on December 15. The judge ordered me [to be] held on a half million-dollar bond, pending a psychological evaluation. I did that and passed. They found I was not suicidal, homicidal or a threat to anybody. My attorney brought it up in front of a different judge, who let me out on a $50,000 bond and an ankle monitor. I was released from jail on Christmas Eve."

Wiser said the conditions of his bond also prohibit him from having any contact with his grandfather, who is dying from cancer.

"The one judge I went in front of told me to remove any firearms from my parents' house and put them at my grandpa's house," Wiser said. "The next judge freaked out about me even knowing what a gun is and put a no contact order against me and my grandparents. My grandfather is dying right now, and I am not allowed within 500 feet of him."

WOW. Ruining someone's life like that will end up being the reason he actually kills someone.

What I don't get is this kid clearly has plans to enlist, the prosecutor is a former Marine. How does he not see this kid following a good path to be a valued member of our society the same as him and his choice to be a Marine???? Why turn him into a monster and probably end up making him a criminal by pursuing this path on the kid...

Oh, he wants to be a shitty rural judge, that is so worth it....

The knife, which Wiser said is part of his first responder's kit and can be used for slicing an accident victim's seatbelt, was found tucked inside his EMT medical vest in the trunk of the car.

Everyone that thinks Jordan has done no wrong should go to the prosecutors website and leave him a short two or three sentence letter letting him know that. I just did

He's right there is more to this story I went to school with this kid and I've had the same public safety class as him, Jordan had never got his state certificate, and he would never be able to either because he had missed too many days of school, and no he wasn't a volunteer firefighter, he got kicked out of these departments as a explorer, due to him breaking the rules, running lights and sirens to calls, and disrespecting authority, now in order to run lights and sirens to calls you have to be a licensed emergency service provider, he wasn't, and you have to be out of school in order to do so, he wasn't out of school when he was running lights and sirens, most of the days last year when we were going through the criminal justice portion, at the end of class he would run to his car pager in hand turn on the lights and sirens and burn out of the parking lot, and when he got there he would take pictures of which included, car crashes, dead bodies, and structure fires and post them on the internet, these were the fire departments he was an explorer at, Conneaut, Geneva, and Sheffield, they will say the same thing that I told you in this comment.

This is from one of the comments on the huffpo article. I'm NOT saying this is true, or that even if it is that the prosecutor is not acting inappropriately, but it might be a reason for why the school officials would have it out for this kid.
