I see a lot of these for different schools uptown. My favorite is the one for McGehee, because you know “she’s worth it”.

Is this common in other cities or is just a way for uptown folks to brag about how much they spend on their child’s education.

Schools give them to students to promote their open house... It's not like parents requested them..

Does Sacred Heart and Newman really need to be promoted. My wife, Sacred Heart grad, said this is a new thing and was not done when she was in hs a decade ago.

I see it in BR, but I just call them nerds.

It's common where I live to see yard signs for athletics, band, newspaper, etc for the high school with the occasional private (elementary and middle) school sign. There's like one affluent private high school in San Antonio. For the public school it's obvious if you live in the district or not so not really bragging but the private school ones are definitely kind of showing off. Then there is the car decals on every Tahoe or Beamer...

Same in Nola. It’s like congrats you drive a Tesla and send your kid to Newman. You don’t see any Hyundai Elantra rocking a McMain decal.

I've seen them outside the houses of people who don't have children who go there.

Grandparents, maybe.

The sign thing seemed to be a New Orleans phenomenon.

However, I see a lot of car window decals for the public elementary school near my house in Austin, but maybe they are using that as some extra form of security or something.

She better be. Looking at their website, sending your precious little angel to this school from kindergarten through high school will set you back north of $300 grand. That just seems crazy !

Predominately a NOLA thing. With private catholic schools being so prevalent, they all compete against each other for "your business" basically

When you live in a place where the public education isnt a rat infested death trap, they dont have to advertise

Definitely a new thing. Grew up here and it’s embarrassing IMO that all these uptown douches do this. Classic New Orleans exclusivity BS.

My cousins, sister-in-law and good friends went there. Brees' kid's went there for pre-school. It's a great school and an excellent education. A good friend of mine's great grandmother was Louise McGehee

Schools are are fighting each other for enrollment and now that there are better charter options the privates are losing kids to them.

I went on 2 dates with a McGehee alumna over the summer. She was dumber than all the MCA, Ursuline, and Chapelle alumna I've dated. Will report back once I've dated graduates of Dominican and Sacred Heart to know for sure the definitive rankings.
