and probably to a viewing audience less than the number of people in the stands, many of which probably didn't even notice or gave it a second thought if they did, much ado about nothing

She effectively blindsided them when they were completely vulnerable and off guard.

How were they caught off guard if they just ran 60' while watching her "blocking the plate" the whole way?

It's not like she stepped on the line at the last minute. She barely moves her body.

I really feel bad for the girl and her family. Was it right? No. It can be handled without the masses coming out of the woodworks with pitchforks looking for blood

Yeah. I mean sure, she should catch shite.

But damn. This is another one of those cases where the masses get to all COMPLETELY FORGET that they would be in a world of hurt if there was video of their worst days on this planet.

We've become a nation of people that seem to revel in destroying people. It's kind of odd actually.

Um, because they weren't expecting her to throw a shoulder high into them as they eased around her into home plate for the uncontested runs? Are you kidding right now? What exactly do you think the runners should have done differently?

Rewatch the video.

She´s got her heels on the baseline, and is in front of the plate.

Runners clearly see this, coming in from the right slightly for the plate, once in her proximity.

They are trying to step on the plate and also not touch her. They did not expect to be elbowed.

She then proceeds to deftly elbow them.

They were caught off guard.

Whoever taught her this would be very proud of their pupil (it is an amazingly efficient action).

Alright. I just watched this a few times. On the first one, she's out in front of the plate and not over the baseline. Ball wasn't even on it's way to home. Could've been handled better by the catcher and the runner. Second one was definitely obstruction.

Maybe rematch the clip again. On the first one, she actually steps back into the baseline as the runner is approaching the plate.

The second one she's on the line the whole time.

I have.

I don't agree. There is body contact there or these girls weigh 50 lbs. An elbow alone can't send them flying like that. If you watch the slow motion of the first one, the runner dips her left shoulder and braces for impact.

This girl should have been ejected for obstruction, but at least one of the runners was prepared to send her flying and didn't work out for her.

I agree, she's a poor sport. I agree she should be disciplined. I don't agree with the masses piling on this girl for not reason other than feeling better about themselves.

ETA I don't think I've ever typed that word before. And it's not one I use, but I was just making a point here.

Her name is Megan Crosby. This is blowing up bigtime down in SW Houston and I'm hearing there's going to be some hell to pay before it's all over with. Apparently a scholly offer she had to SHSU has already been rescinded. Word is also that this catcher doesn't even go to HS in Needville, but to some private school in Sugar Land (which evidently is allowed).

This fricking worldwide witch hunt shite every time someone does something wrong on a very local scale has got to stop.

What she did sucked, but does the whe internet really need to get involved? Do we need to know her name? Geez.

it looks to me like the girls were all expecting some (perhaps chippy) contact. The catcher was just better at it.

Oh but it gets better. Someone posted her coach's email address and phone number earlier. I'm sure sooner or later the girl's address and phone number will get out as well, and the family will start getting death threats, if they haven't already. Sad world we live in.

Great umpiring. He never even looked to see if the runner touched home.

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed the dumbass plate umpire looking into outfield on the play.
