IMO, the Maybach is the "I can't afford a Rolls but still want something overly expensive" sedan. They are not all that great over the S variants.
Isn't buying one of those and driving it around yourself kind of classless? I always thought the whole point of a Rolls, Bentley, or even a Maybach was to be driven in it. They're not intended to be thrilling to drive. The guy with the money / power is expected to be comfortably ensconced in the back seat.

Lets see....in todays car market, this applies to the common:
F150 & F250
GMC Yukon/Suburban
But to OP's point, the G wagon and the Tesla truck stick out to me as ugly.

Bangle took over BMW design in the early 90's and reinvented the BMW design language which was nearly universally panned, especially among Bimmer lovers. Over the years, those designs have come to be loved. As a testament to that BMW beat out Mercedes to be the global leader in premium car sales during the Bangle era.
I liked most of everything he did at BMW back then except the original 7 Series bangle butt. They fixed it any most everything else looked great to me.

F90 is hideous and weighs more than my truck. It’s too tall.
All of the new new stuff is pretty ugly.

What exactly on the G Class makes it a $250,000 vehicle? What special Mercedes parts or tech does it have to require such a hefty price tag over every other vehicle in their company's lineup?
Never understood that...
Never understood that...

You want to see high-end ugly, take a look at the Bentley line-up.
I'm good with the Bentley Continental 2 DR

Some of the others such as the 4 DRs, not so much. I couldn't afford them anyway.

Exactly.
I always wanted to buy an old boxy Isuzu Trooper and throw on Mercedes emblems just to screw with the rich A-holes in Newport Beach.

Built to last
Solid luxury interior
Performance on road and off
People who say "why don't they build cars as solid as they used to" are people who should look at cars like the Gwagen.
This doesn't mean they won't have parts that break on them, but usually they are superfluous parts or creature feature things. Even then the parts that are deemed extra are a decade earlier than seeing them mainstream.

Cadillac Cimmaron was a rebadged Cavalier originally complete with a 2L 4 cylinder.

Actually, GM thought it through enough to make the Cimmaron 2.8 V6-only. Otherwise, you're right, it was homely and should never have been built. Another Roger Smith Accounting Department classic.
