Was wondering which of the two was more beneficial. At the moment, I'm just doing a lot of cardio to drop weight and lose fat but once I get to the mark I wanna be at, I was wondering which direction I should go in.

Full body for six weeks just to build strength. Switch to something else after that.

When I lost all of my weight, I got to obsessed with the scale and burned off all of my muscle. I found later that doing workout videos was the way to go for me. I do Bob Harper videos on YouTube. Specifically the super strength and totally ripped core.

Should also add that I do cardio for about an hour after workout. Run on treadmill or stationary bike (my bike is the one with the handlebars that move).

I do 1 hr cardio daily, then split the other workouts around the week.

Did 1 hr cardio yesterday then a 45 min intense bench workout with flat and incline.

Today it's cardio then curls

I run 3-4 days a week for cardio. Lift the others. Getting back into it now after hurting my shoulder a few weeks ago. Going to start back the 5x5 workouts next week. I loved it the 6 weeks I was doing it earlier this year. It is more full body but I add a couple of specifics to each workout. The days I deadlift and row I add curls, pull-ups, and flies. The days I bench I add dips, cleans, and calf raises.

Splits. Do legs twice a week and then pair up your other stuff based on what you like. Every two or three weeks switch stuff up or add new workouts

Why not lift and do cardio? If you are dieting and doing cardio without resistance training you are gonna lose a lot of muscle along with fat.

Weight resistance will actually help you burn calories. That's a great point.

This. I do basically 6 month splits. Also, it's very difficult to call certain lifts non-full body. For example, if you think deadlifts aren't full body, then you're doing them wrong. And if you're not doing deadlifts then you're doing working out wrong.

I split my 6 months between basically brute strength and functional/explosive strength programs. When I'm on my split/strength program, it's 4 days a week, two upper body and two lower body. Upper body is the standard shoulder press, bench press and pullups/rows. Lower body is squats/deadlifts. When I'm on my explosive/functional program, it's olympic lifts 3 days a week.

I really like switching between the two. This has kept my #gainz pretty consistent and has helped keeping my workouts stagnant and boring.

the 5x5 workouts

I'll second this. And if you're a weight lifting novice, programs like Stronglifts 5x5 or Starting Strengh are good places to start. Make these the foundation of what you do and then mix in some light cardio and some accessory stuff like...

Lift heavy using compound lifts. Building muscle mass and functional strength should be the foundation to whatever you do.

When you say split, do you mean upper and lower or bodybuilding split or push pull lower?

Do y'all mostly do deadlifts on leg day? Can't decide which muscle to incorporate them with. I have a 4 day rotation:

Chest/tri/core
Back/bis
Shoulders/core
Legs

What I did in my "career" of #gainz is start off with a powerlifting background to gain strength. Later, I switched to high volume and it has done great for me.

Low reps are for strength and volume is for mass.

Contrary to what some will tell you, directly lifting heavy weights will not put on mass. It helps you with your volume training to get mass.

You can be strong as an ox and look like an every day Joe.

Back Day unless you're doing straight leg deadlifts. Those are on Leg Day for me.

I'm kinda like this. I'm 155 and dumbbell bench 95s. So you're saying I should add more reps with intermediate weight to build mass?

Absolutely. Time under tension is what builds the mass. The goal of strength is to shorten the distance to travel to get the most amount of weight up. The goal is to tear down the muscle so you want the most amount of time tearing them down.

I like to do around 3x12-15 with a slow eccentric and normal concentric and pause and squeeze at the flex peak.

Strength rep ranges have their place though. I love to start my workout with a 3x5-6 heavy compound such as Deads, Bench, Military Press, Squats or Rows. Being strong helps move more weight during the volume phase.

This is what works for me. I'm not saying it's gospel but I have found my rhythm with that.

I do deads on back day and squats on leg day. There is no way in hell I could do both the same day.

BTW, if you aren't already, do high bar squats and/or front squats for best quad development.
