About a year ago I'd always skip leg day and started to notice I was getting the jail house body. Even started just wearing wind pants to the gym because I got self conscious about it lol. Finally got serious about it and now my calf and quad growth is what I'm most pumped about.
The shorts I wear on Leg Day puts foolz on notice

My issue is I've had some accidents that have never healed completely. Shattered left ankle that will never be the same, fubared right knee, right hip injury that has popped out of socket several times, fractured tailbone twice that left me in pain for months at a time, and to top it all off my L4 and L5 is shot.... So me doing core and leg weighted lifts is almost impossible. :/
You and I are in the same boat. My left knee is all but worthless, I have slight curvature in my spine which causes compression in my lower back, and my left ankle is almost completely shot. It sucks.

Was wondering which of the two was more beneficial. At the moment, I'm just doing a lot of cardio to drop weight and lose fat but once I get to the mark I wanna be at, I was wondering which direction I should go in.
Both have their benefits. It completely depends on what you want to do.
You mentioned wanting to lose weight, the full body routine is a great way to do more high intensity workouts while still building some muscle. It's also less workouts per week, and less of a time commitment. It's going to be entirely(or it should anyway)compound movements.
A split can be as simple or as complicated as you want. You can make it a push/pull, a lower/upper, or break it down further. A split is going to focus a lot more on building strength, and doing more isolation exercises, and adding i supersets and other things like that. You will never find a bodybuilder that does a full body routine, because you can' focus on the individual muscles enough.
I personally do a 3 day split that is called: Primary Mover Plus Synergist. That basically means that you add in groups that work together, instead of opposing muscles. For example: Day 1- Chest and Tris, Day 2- Back and Biceps, Day 3- Legs and Cardio, Day 4- Off day, repeat. The opposite would be when you work out chest, and back together so you are constantly working out opposing muscles.
I think if you are serious about lifting you have to do a split. However, if you are just wanting to get into shape and maintain, a full body routine will work.

I try and wear those crazy little runners shorts. Free ball too
I don't want fabric ripping when the quads start pumping
