I'm a casual baseball fan, a somewhat less casual pro-football fan (American) and I tend to follow college football (American) a little more closely. That's about it.

You definitely don't need to follow soccer to have heard of Messi.
If you watch ESPN at all you've undoubtedly seen multiple highlights of his. You've probably even read his name hundreds of times.

First I've heard of him too. I don't really follow soccer. I don't really think they're all f@gs or anything, I'm just not familiar with them. As the other poster said, his gf is hot though. If he is on the far left of the pic, he is one of only two there that don't look like they are heading to a Menudo reunion concert. And that's a good thing.
