Yeah luckily I was blessed to get scholarships for undergrad so I didn't have to deal with student loans. I'm not one of those spoiled pricks who bought a super big rigged truck either. I still drive the same clunker I had when I was 16. No AC for the win. I hate spending money on senseless garbage I don't need.

Not that hard . If you're out of college and living at home ,you're a loser .
Or they'd rather live at home for a year to pay off student loans and have more than 3% to put down on a house.

Until they become a burden on society I don't care much about it one way or the other.

Nobody wants to live in North Dakota..even for free.

Yea, I lived with my parents through college. I paid my own way and paid for my own stuff and me being there didn't cost them a nickel other than the extra food I ate when they cooked. I'm quite proud of it.

Millennial(I think? Sort of on the cusp) who doesn't live with his parents, nor have I since I turned 19, but I don't really see a problem with this. Obviously that depends on the circumstances, but why move out and take on debt when it's not necessary. People don't knock up and marry their HS sweetheart at 16/17/18/19 these days like they did in the past.
Now heading into your 30s while still living at home does seem odd to me, but again, if you're single and working a career, WGAF. Stay till you're in a serious relationship.

Aren't some millenials like 16? The 16-24 range are still in school man. I'm sure the majority of college kids permanent address is their parent's. shite it probably is until they buy a house. Doesn't mean they live with their parents.

Probably a good reason only 14% live with their parents in ND, and that's because it's miserable and they need to leave, even if it means going on welfare and food stamps for a few years.
Mountain West kids aren't as coddled as the rest of the nation's dependents. Most are working & held accountable for sizeable tasks at an early age. Living on their own is pretty easy for them.

My worthless 25-year-old brother still lives at home. No steady job, no car, no ambition, and no contribution to society.
What does he do? Does he have any money?

The upper west states like the Dakotas are also known for having low populations. So that smaller percentage may actually be quite large respective to their state.

They start those kids early on the oil field in the Dakotas. They're all millionaires by 30...

It's all about getting laid. If you can live at your parent's or parents' house and get laid, it's all good.

Why is the Deep South and north east so screwed up?
Large numbers of disadvantaged youths. The great grandparents bought a house and paid for it for thirty years. Welfare broke up the nuclear family with a working father. Following generations live multi generations in paid for house. Southwest has a large Latino population where generations live together, much like the Vietnamese in New Orleans.

I do wonder what percentage of those state by state numbers are made up of 18 year old's who are high school seniors.
Another question is who do they consider millennials? 18 year high schoolers were born in 1999 so I wouldn't consider them millennials but they might.

They're generation Z. 1983-2001 is too big of a gap to be considered all millennials.

Doesn't change the fact that North Dakota is the worst state in the union to live on pretty much all accounts but crime. The salary would have to be incredibly significant, like where I can afford to leave every single weekend for an awesome vacation, for me to even consider moving there.
