quote:Did the WPD know Houston's dad was CoP in Goddard before or after the raid? Assumption....neighbors call police about young people coming and going at all hours of the day and night from a house they cannot afford.
What the officers did know is that Houston, the son of Goddard’s Chief of Police, had prior drug arrests
Police run tags of the vehicles and Houston's name pops up for prior drug arrests. If at that point they become aware that Houston's dad is the Chief of Police in nearby Goddard, wouldn't you think it would be a professional courtesy to call him to A)either give him a heads up about what is going on or B) ask him if he has any information about the situation.
The fact that Houston's father is CoP in Goddard is completely irrelevant to the article, unless the WPD were aware prior to the raid.

That is like a 200k home or less in Wichita Kansas and 3 people were living there, you could swing that on minimum wage.
looks like an old starter home, I'd be surprised if if were a 200k home in Wichita, that arouses suspicion?

No Knock raids and Civil Forfeiture need to be brought to the Supreme Court and outlawed.

Maybe a small local uprising that will be squashed in less than a day, but no full blown revolution will happen in our lifetimes, at least.
You act like this is a federal problem. 95% of these cases are perpetrated by state and local governments.

I was thinking the same thing. You think they would at least call him and ask if he knew anything. Maybe they were dead set on getting to have fun with their raid that they figured it wouldn't be wise to call him because he would tip the kids off or something dumb. I realize that logic is idiotic, but look at who we are talking about.

No-knock raids are criminal...they need to be outlawed ASAP...enough people have needlessly while poorly trained cops play delta force.

The feds have armed and funded local cops. As well, the SCOTUS has laid out the red carpet for this crap.

Very possible.. But you would think he would say "yeah they can afford it because his friends parents own it."

Police chief's kid wasn't present when the raid occurred . . . . convenient.

I would say this is shocking... But I am not surprised. This should be broadcast on NBC/ABC/CBS for all to see- but it won't.
inb4 The Dudes Rug or some other loyalist on here says that this is for our own good, and that we don't know all the facts, or its tough to be a cop.

So you blame the availability of guns, not the people. Nice.

Do they literally try and find the stupidest people to be cops?
While I get your point, its unfair to accuse uniform patrolman of being stupid. They just carry out what the higer-ups tell them to do.

Do you get promoted for being the dumbest one?
apparently so. These policies aren't coming from beat cops, so I'd assume the dumbest ones get promoted.

Stop it with this excuse.
"I was just following orders" is not an acceptable excuse.

Federal judges and magistrates may lawfully and constitutionally issue "no-knock" warrants where circumstances justify a no-knock entry, and federal law enforcement officers may lawfully apply for such warrants under such circumstances. Although officers need not take affirmative steps to make an independent re-verification of the circumstances already recognized by a magistrate in issuing a no-knock warrant, such a warrant does not entitle officers to disregard reliable information clearly negating the existence of exigent circumstances when they actually receive such information before execution of the warrant.
Im not sure if yall know this or not but a no knock warrant is not the easiest thing to get a judge to sign. they are only used when circumstances such as officer safety and the protection of evidence is at hand.

I think it's pretty clear in this case how soft the judge was.
