Not even when they do a no-knock raid for someone who doesn't even live in the home and permanently disfigure a toddler's face in the process. They won't pay the toddler's medical bills or try to help the kid out in any way, either.

Not only that, the sheriff of that department said "Given the same scenario, we'll do the same thing again. I stand behind what our team did".

This.

It makes a certain segment of the population feel safe.

And if a politician tries to seriously address these abuses he will be accused of being 'soft on crime'.

I used to work in construction before IT. In 2013 there were 796 construction worker fatalities compared to 97 law enforcement fatalities. Where's my fricking gold medal?

We're criticizing cops because we the taxpayers invented your jobs and pay you to do them. Of course we beg for your help when we need it. The criticism is not that we don't need you, it's that you aren't doing your job right. Is that really hard to understand?

796?

I was once a truck delivery driver(beer) & 4,693 Truckers were killed in 2012.

I believe 127 LEO's were killed in 2012 & only 50 by gunfire. The rest were too many doughnuts & car accidents.

Drug sniffing dogs have a huge error %.

Using high school grads as "K-9 handlers" and dogs that are sketchily trained is a recipe for disaster.

"But, but...dogs have a better sense of smell than humans."

Some of these events are result of really awful police dept's. Cops in my area are surprisingly restrained - but they all live here and the citizens will harass the shyt out of them if they screw up too bad. The Police Chief will also make their lives hell.
