Tom Benson would have never let something like that happen.

Benson would have put it on trucks and moved it to SanAntonio in the middle of the night when no one was looking.

They should call Nike. I'm sure they would be happy to help.

Sadly, HBCUs are a victim of their own success. Several generations back, major universities were not open to black students and the HBCUs were there to serve them. Today, given the opportunity, these students want to attend a different type of university.
Wasn’t it just a year or two ago that for the first time, no SWAC football player was drafted by the NFL. The kids that 40 years ago were playing for a SWAC school or now playing in the SEC.
Still, the Morris Brown is sad but don’t downplay the role that the crooked administrator played in its demise.

It seems like a weird time for HBCUs. I'm actually surprised more haven't folded given the financial issues I read about. Even Morris Brown is still hanging on with a few students.

The top ones like Morehouse, Spelman, and Howard seem to be doing just fine and you can get a good education from these places.

Speaking of graffiti artists, I'm always impressed by some of the areas they are able to access and still create a complete work.

Do they do it in one sitting or over days when no one cares to patrol? I wish I'd catch one doing it to find out.

Same. One sitting generally overnight. Some are fantastic. These are just taggers in reality but the triggering they cause is funny to watch as well.

Where's that guy in NOLA? The grey something. Go around covering up graffiti with gray paint. Dumbass got himself some jail time iirc

btw the college went bankrupt due to a woman stealing most of the money while she was employed there..think she went to jail...

I don't know if this is the case you're talking about... but while I don't think it's stealing (just misappropriation)... it certainly seems to be the final straw that broke the camel's back

Atlanta Journal Constitution - May 2, 2006

quote:

On Monday, Cross pleaded guilty to one count of embezzlement for defrauding the government of financial aid money, admitting to knowingly accepting money for students who were not enrolled to try to stave off the school's impending financial crisis. Cross also has agreed to pay $11,000 in restitution to the government, the amount the federal Department of Education said it is owed stemming from the fraud charge.

The plea deal brought to a close the six-year saga that began with Cross's presidency and ended with the college losing its accreditation and two top former administrators facing prison time.

Cross, 69, along with former financial aid director Parvesh Singh, were charged in a 34-count federal indictment in 2004 for misappropriating student financial aid. While she and Singh used the federal aid to try to patch financial holes at Morris Brown, neither benefited personally from the fraud, lawyers for both sides said Monday. Each of the charges carried a maximum sentence of two to five years.

...

In 2002, months after Cross left the college, the agency that oversees Southern schools revoked Morris Brown's accreditation, the most serious sanction that can be taken against a college. Accreditation is certification that a college provides a reasonably good quality education. The commission cited the school's grave financial situation and lack of a viable recovery plan.

Findling said Cross, a longtime educator, had hoped her presidency would improve the college's academic standing and "build on the college's traditions."

...

Now administrators at Morris Brown, which still faces class action lawsuits from students and other litigation from creditors, say they will focus on the future. At its height during Cross' tenure, the college's enrollment had swelled to 2,700 students. Just 44 students remain.

"The Morris Brown College family is elated that this sad chapter in the college's history has come to closure, " said Getchel Caldwell, the school's vice president for institutional advancement. "We look forward to moving forward with rebuilding the college."

That makes a lot more sense. I was about to say if she could embezzle enough money to bankrupt a college without anyone noticing until it’s too late, then I tip my cap to her.

Sounds about how Southern is run. Seems like every year there is another administrator or faculty member who is being indicted for mishandling funds or something of that nature. They are always on the verge of losing acredation because of one thing or another, usually it’s just something simple like lack of maintaining records.

If they invest 28.3 million into stadium, it would be a great highschool venue.
