Fun fact: They never fly the green flag. In the best of conditions it will always be at least yellow.

I went a few days ago. It’s was as rough as I’ve ever seen it in my many years.

Who makes the call on flag color? Is it police, beach patrol……?

I was in Pensacola at the Portofino from the 16th-23rd. Literally the worst weather week this summer. Pensacola had a tornado and severe flooding the night before we got there. No less than 15mph winds all week, with gusts to 30-40. Rain every single day. Glass broken on a couple balconies from furniture sliding around. Pool furniture tossed onto the dunes. The heavy west winds had the surf up and heavy longshore currents most of that week. Pensacola never changed from a yellow flag all week. Should have been red on at least 2 or 3 of those days. Several people were rescued from the longshore currents. Probably lucky they were washing along the shore instead of being sucked out. I could easily spot Several rips most days but apparently weren't strong.
These counties are very hesitant to post red and double reds. So if it has been double reds, which I doubt, you would have been the ultimate dumbass to get in.

This. Tornadoes and bad storms too.

You can doubt all you want, it’s been double red for the last week and a half in PCB.

quote:Well good on PCB for actually for actually posting them. I havent seen many doubles. In fact the only time that MAY have been a double that I can remember was when a hurricane was skirting the coast a couple years ago and there were 6 footers breaking on the beach with white wash damn near to the dunes.

I’m not. I’m just a compassionate, conservative, and as someone who is spent a lot their life growing up on the water (lake or ocean) I know that people make stupid decisions, and sometimes we need to protect them from themselves.

I’ll have to find the video, but last week they had a half hour standoff with a guy boogie boarding in double reds. Helicopter was hovering over. When the guy finally got out of the water he tried to run away and then proceeded to assault a bay county deputy until some good samaritans helped. People are fricking retarded.

Nah, frick all that.
If I want to dive in on double red and ride a rip tide out to fist fight a tiger shark feeding frenzy, I should be able to do so.

It's called "reality." Ultimately, everything is on you. If people tell you it's too dangerous and you go in anyway and drown, Darwin wins again.

Newsflash, you’re not a conservative and/or don’t understand the meaning of that word,

fricking retard.
But honestly, and I know it's hard to tell in a video, but that looks like the exact conditions we had all week with a yellow flag posted. Obviously there are much stronger rip currents, likely due to the more southerly winds pushing water to the beach. We had west winds so was ripping down the beach instead of perpendicular. It was uncomfortable to even go take a leak in the water trying the jump the crashing waves.
Edit to add: A large majority of people are still retards who can't think on thier own and have zero sound judgement regarding the ocean.

It’s misleading because it was beautiful outside but extremely windy

Arent they putting up flags everywhere for people not to go in the water?
Yup....the sheriff's office in the Panama City Beach area is fining people to the tune of $500 a pop as well on those red-flag days. Guess you can't fix stupid....even for former NFL quarterbacks like Ryan Mallett.

Do you think conservatism is to let people die because they’re too stupid to understand the ramifications of their decisions? You obviously were not a political science major and don’t understand anything about Calvinism or John Locke.

A conservative wouldn’t be championing additional government control of its population. You can’t fix stupid.
