Still unknown for sure but everything I have read indicates that the number of antibodies created will last for quite a long time. Immunity for people who have gotten it is already longer than three months.

People really don’t understand how vaccines work? They’re not a cure all, intendended to work for all people. They work by slowing the spread by limiting the chance a person that gets it is around someone else that the vaccine didn’t work on. If 80% of people get it, and it works for 70% of those people then the chance the 20% that didn’t get the vaccine encounter a positive person is so dramatically decreased that you can stop the virus in it tracks.

It’s one of the biggest counter points to anti-vaxxers, they have the right to not take anything, but in doing so they are limiting the effectiveness of the vaccine for everyone else, because many people think it’s just a take the vaccine and be immune thing. It’s take the vaccine and probably be immune but if not, you likely won’t be around the virus anyway.

Yes, I read an article yesterday that only 5 people worldwide have been reinfected.

It's higher than that but still rare.

Antibodies are not the end all be all for immunity; every viral antibody response eventually decreases to zero. The T-cell and B-cell memory are what confer longtime immunity and there are still a lot of unanswered questions about these responses to COVID19 because of the novelty of the virus.

Nah. Most seem to want a bit more testing and such since it was developed so fast.

No. You use statistically outliers to spread fear and misinformation.

I’m not an anti-vaxxer. I’ve had all of my vaccines up to date, but flu shots and covid vaccines are different than a chicken pox or measles vaccine. Flu shot is just a guess as to what the strain will be that year, because the flu mutates very quickly. Covid vaccine hasn’t had a lot of research into it so it’s hard to trust it right away. Not saying you shouldn’t get vaccines because I think you definitely should

I think there are a lot of grown arse men scared to death of needles.

Refusing a flu shot is dumb IMO- especially if you have young children. The shot is effective and a majority of pediatric flu deaths are from kids who weren’t vaccinated.

Even if you do catch the flu, the symptoms are far more mild if you had the shot. This is proven.

Not sure why so many people are vehemently opposed to the flu shot. I suspect that a lot of guys are low key scared of needles.

Now, the covid vaccine is a little worrisome with how fast it was developed. But if the effectiveness is true, then covid will be gone with a quickness as long as we have kids, healthcare workers, and others to vaccinate like we do for other diseases. Forcing vaccinations are not a bad thing (polio anyone?). But I’m sure some q tards who believe all those lies and fantasy will tell us how it’s gonna lead to mind control and microchipping and super time travel to see JFK jr.

And for the record, I’m conservative (far from liberal) but I hate how this has been politicized so much that both sides have lost common sense.

Left- “we are all gonna die and we need to shite the heck down.”

Right- “this is a fake virus. Nobody died from it. I don’t believe in it.”

They have been working on a vaccine for SARS for 20 years. There just hasn't ever been a huge push or funding to really get the research going.

COVID changed that.

This idea that we started completely from scratch for the COVID vaccine is completely false.

I kissed a girl that had the flu and I’ve smoked weed after someone who had the flu. I never got sick either time. My immune system is strong enough where I don’t need a flu shot, at least not right now because I’m young and healthy. Maybe when I get older I’ll need it but for now I don’t

It doesn’t matter how many times this is explained....some of these brain dead frickers on here will never comprehend this simple fact.

And I’m getting the vaccine as soon as it is available and final FDA approval for emergency use...which looks like will be in a few weeks in my area for all healthcare workers and others (I think first responders as well). I was already asked if I would help out with one of the pods in PHX that will be doing healthcare worker vaccinations.

calling it a vaccine is a misnomer

it's not a traditional vaccine like you've taken your whole life
