I’m trying to see if I can find a certain kind of truck.

What I’m looking for is an 80’s or 90’s model (preferably) pickup that is 4 door, 4x4, and manual transmission.

Does such a truck exist? If needed I can do without manual transmission.

When I get ready to sell my current truck I think I want to get an older truck.

TIA

Yep. Tacoma’s , Nissan Hardbodys, S-10’s etc

ETA: Nevermind, didn’t see 4 door

You can find 2001 Tacoma’s. First year they made 4 door.

I think you are going to end up with a 1 ton model if you are stuck with that time period. 4 door didn’t really jump off til the 00’s in a 1/2 ton.

Try and buy an 80’s squarebody.....you’d come out cheaper with a 2010 truck. Those things are like gold now if you find one without rust. I think the 4 door (non dually) ones are custom built from a few different trucks. They must have made very very few of them.

I was in Japan in '89 and '90 and saw a lot of 4x4, 4-door model Toyota pickups from the 70's. They made them, but they never made it to the U.S.

Looking at Autotrader, there are a lot more automatics available vs manual. The F250 seem to have the twin I-beam front end versus the solid front in the 350; so if you are going to rattle the fillings out of your teeth, you might as well look cool doing it.

I laugh at people that say the 4-door trucks weren’t built until the mid-90’s. I lived in Panama in 1988, the first time I ever saw a small 4-door truck. They were everywhere. They were so dangerous (flip over prone), the US wouldn’t allow them until they they fixed the hazards.
