quote:5 mph over vs 23 mph over. Big difference bub.
80 is still speeding so you would be admitting to speeding. What am I missing?

You have zero shot in a court. Admit you were going only 56 and you admit you were speeding. You will be guilty of the ticket.
Best route is to get something done, reduced, dropped, etc…before actual court.

Help. Going 80 MPH. Cop clocked me at 98. Any advice?
Quit lying to yourself is my advice.
If you do it, expect others to do it to you.
Your ceiling in life will be low.

How much were you saving at 98 MPH?

He nailed your arse
It happens when others in front of you get lucky
Cop must have been finishing his donut and missed the real speeders

Years ago I fought a ticket in traffic court and won. Highway patrol had me going 82 in a 55 mph zone and I was just over 60 with several cars blowing by me. I think he clocked one of them. I questioned the patrolman in court and asked him if he was sure he clocked me and not the other two cars and he couldn’t say for sure. The judge let me off.

Pretty much happened to me.
My Life360 said my top speed was 78 and the cop said he clocked me at 90.
It was pretty congested and everyone was basically the same speed. He probably clocked someone else going eastbound on I-10, not westbound.
Did not get a ticket.

For context I was going 80 in a 75 zone
Why? How much time were you going to save?
I'm always curious about folks who set cruise control above the speed limit and then get upset when they get a ticket.

Get a dash cam that records your speed so that the next time this happens you can go to court and make the cop look like the lying a-hole that he is. You can also go to the DA to try to press charges against the cop for lying on a government form. Good luck with that though.
Until then, suck it up buttercup.

Get an attorney who can convince the judge that larger faster vehicles were moving round you and the radar picked them up instead of you.
You driving on 130 in Texas? That's the only highway with an 80 mph speed limit I'm aware of.
