I saw that too, and on top of that delivery would be 1-2 weeks.
You’ll have your phone 5G back before that

dont criticize the NWS on here bro. They are the best of the best and worth every penny of your tax dollars. Even when they get it wrong, they get it as right as possible. ---sarcasm
They are another arm of globalist filth and I'm growing more convinced they intentionally get forecasts wrong so they can "show" that "global warming" is getting worse because the disasters are getting worse when people cant prepare.
Then the NWS Asheville office had the nerve to put out a statement giving condolences where they subtly manage to slip in "we wished our forecast was wrong but we were right". made me want to puke.

The NWS office for that region isn’t in Asheville, boomer
Probably slipped in the they were right because dumbasses are saying they were wrong. Might as well set the record straight when dealing with idiots.
Here’s an NWS discussion from the Greenville-Spartanburg office, which is the office for Asheville, from the day before calling for catastrophic flooding.
They were right. Cry when they’re right, cry when they’re wrong.

Apparently a helicopter service out of Atlanta rescued 5 people then charged them $1,000 per person for the privilege
Well Kamala said she’s going to give them $750 if they REALLY need it so now they’re only out $250.

While the starlink service is free, you have to drop like $340 on the equipment - was not expecting that
Costco has or recently had a deal for the Starlink equipment at $100 ($240 off). Do not know if that was pulled or if they sold out due to demand right now due to hurricane damage

exactly my point, They put out that shite when there is no time left to lower lake levels or get out. If you were going to obfuscate a forecast to make for the most damage possible and try to hide that you did it, this is the statement you'd put out when its too late.
Boomer.

Curious as to whether a landslide is covered under a P&C policy or by the NFIP policy?

or get out.
Almost all hurricane evacuations occur within the last 24 hours. For Katrina the end of the line of cars from New Orleans passed through Baton Rouge around midnight and Katrina made landfall at the mouth of the river before sunrise.
The Katrina warning discussion roundly praised by even tinfoil hat wearing boomers like yourself was put out the day before landfall.

From the NHC on Wednesday when Helene was just entering the gulf
quote:
The major flood risk includes the urban areas around Tallahassee, metro Atlanta and western North Carolina, including Asheville. Recent rainfall in these areas, especially the southern Appalachians, have left the grounds saturated and the river tributaries running high. Additional rainfall from Helene will exacerbate the existing flood risk. Extreme rainfall rates (i.e., torrential downpour) across the mountainous terrain of the southern Appalachians will likely inundate communities in its path with flash floods, landslides, and cause extensive river and stream flooding
Gusty winds, combined with saturated ground, will also raise the risk of falling trees that can cause loss of life, property damage, blocked roads, and lead to power outages.
Flooding from extreme rainfall is the deadliest direct cause of tropical cyclone fatalities in the U.S. over the past decade..

I'm not sure why you're bringing up stuff from 2 decades ago. And even then they got stuff wrong in that statement.

We pay 6 bill a year for that crap?
Nothing like making a broad statement over a huge area that something bad is going to happen. How about an accurate forecast so people have time to prepare?
Not, "in the future, there are going to be natural disasters in a general area" "oh, and it will be the fault of burning fossil fuels" gtfo

do wingcucks ever get exhausted of seeing things only through their cucked world view?
Here is the official path it took vs the forecast. You don't need to be met to know that you don't want to be on the 3 o'clock side of the rotation

some people are just satisfied with mediocrity i guess.
Glad there are those of us who aren't or we'd still be riding around in wagons and dying from simple infections.
"Wagons are the best and most efficient mode of transport" "infections and dying are just part of life"

It's amazing that you even know how to log on at this point, to be honest.

Logging in I don't have a problem.
I do have a problem with gullible goons who think by some miracle that when every Federal run organization is a bloated ineffective waste that the lone exception is the NWS.
No. The NWS is right there with them but for some reason people will defend them to the grave. very cultish.

What exactly do you think the NWS should have done differently in this specific circumstance?
Lots of folks here have provided that they put info out there regarding the potential for flooding.
Do you even understand the basic principle of you can only predict weather to a certain degree?
Also, it's worth noting, the NWS also warned about potential touchdowns in Mayfield, Kentucky (Western Kentucky) areas in the hours leading up to the tornado outbreak there. But what exactly were people supposed to do at that point? People ignore weather alerts all of the time.

Below is what we dealt with 20 years ago. The NHC has come a long way on tracks.
The NHC may be bloated and over budget, but it is one government service that has drastically improved my lifetime. With emerging AI models, I see no reason to doubt they'll continue to improve.
