What do you mean by "less effective"?

It is a big sumbitch to put a single 9x19 downrange per trigger pull. I would argue in the types of situations a MP5 excels in the SP5 would not be as effective at putting rounds on target as a G17 for example. What makes a sub-gun so good at its job is the burst or auto fire. I know the MP5SF variants exist and are used by some agencies but as a carbine which I think the AR platform is much better at given the chambering options.

Rather have one chambered in 10mm Auto.

The longer barrel alone makes it more effective than a G17. It's a good CQB setup with low recoil and has a far less chance of overpenetration than a rifle caliber in a similar size.

Actually... That is false. Lots of people assumed that in the 80’s and it was oft repeated as gospel. It would make sense right? A pistol bullet penetrates less than a rifle bullet. Then a bunch of people tested it. The LARGER and HEAVIER pistol bullet penetrates more in structures (Sheetrock, tile, etc) than the lighter and thinner jacketed rifle bullet which tends to break up after impact.

Obviously this was testing with the 9mm vs the 5.56 rounds. Don’t come in here and tell me I am wrong and quote something like the .460 Rigby (elephant round) or a .50 BMG.

sorry, i meant overpenetrating the target, not necessarily walls alone. although, i'm curious how much short barrel ar's affect those penetration metrics.

Agreed and, in all fairness, the metrics of advanced bullet design in the 9mm as of recent coupled with the short barrels in AR’s probably means that new testing is warranted.

Meh, if you want a CQB gun get an AR "pistol" with an 11" barrel.

...throw on an aimpoint and a surefire. Good to go.

That's about what you'd pay for a Dakota Tactical, but H&K could have destroyed all competition by pricing it closer to $2k. They just can't help themselves take money from the American market.

I'm sure they will be nearly impossible to find in stock, just like B&T guns.

Your proof?

Be aware that I can supply at least 5 reasons why we NEED these guns.

I'll take 2 as soon as they are available.

But they may want one. So there's that. And if they want one, and can pass a background check, then they should be able to get one.
