dont move to Billings. Its not a very pretty town. Depressing, actually. If youre going to move to Montana, I'd go further west (green spots on the map)

No talking you down, Bengalbio. I’ve made the same decision myself, and got the ball rolling on moving to Utah from Baton Rouge.

We’ll be moving to Park City within the next two years. Just have to see some things through in BR before we go. We also considered the areas outside of SLC, like Cottonwood, but we want to stay away from the inversion.

Life’s too short to live somewhere that doesn’t make you happy if you have the means to do something about it.

Agree with you here. It makes a world of difference.

If you want to get out of the hot I would suggest not going to Arizona.

ive lived in Chicago, Beijing, Kharbarovsk, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, and spent a winter in New England and I would rather take the 100+ degree summers with humidity than have to endure another freezing winter. Its not even close, to me.

Absolutely Pathetic

Mizzoula has the university which is nice, but Whitefish is the play if you have enough money. I've got a buddy who just moved there with his family and he loves it. Went from clean shaven in West Chester NY to immediately having a beard in Whitefish

Some areas in Arizona have elevation to factor in. The hottest month of the year in Flagstaff the average high is 82 degrees.

Sedona's a good one, if you can afford it.

Enduring vs enjoying a winter depends on location.

I spent my childhood on Long Island, NY. You endured those winters. In Utah, you enjoy the winters.

Dry snow, good skiing, nordic, snow hiking. Plenty to take advantage of. Hell, I find myself dressing down and opening my coat even in single digits.

There’s been a sort of bell curve in my life so far on this. I loved the heat when I was a kid. Started hating it for a while. Now I’m starting to love it again.

Yeah? And there is a crazy invention called air conditioning. You’re missing the point here. My point is how every summer when it gets hot people bitch and moan about how they’re leaving then never do anything about it.

My FIL has the fricking life. (Bring on the downvotes Mingo)

His main house and life is on the lake outside of Nashville. He had a ski in townhome in Jackson hole he’d go to for about 5 weeks of peak summer and 2-3 weeks in the winter to ski. Then he has a condo in the Destin area.

He pretty much chases 75 high weather year round unless he wants to ski.

My wife and I will be buying some land in the mountains of southern CO within 8-10 years once our youngest graduates high school. We will spend our summers there to get away from the TX heat.

this is accurate but it is still better than Baton Rouge imo

There's also people that get sick of the heat and actually move. I'm one of them. It's been even better than I was expecting it to be.
