Gut-wrenching.

.....the world may have very well lost some special people. But, we'll never know now.

It better be somebody's arse.

How do you know it wasnt the dead scout's fault? Did they check the boating regulations before sailing in the lake?

Maybve they werent supposed to have that boat with a mast that high, in the lake.

30 ft mast. I dont know the lake but it wouldn't have to be an abnormally low hanging line for a mast that tall to catch it.

tragic

Why should it be somebody's arse? What good would that do?

30' mast damn

Curious how big of a lake or water area. A 230kV line is required to have almost 40' of clearance

They went up in a cove (alley creek) by going under am FM road bridge then got up in a side pool in that cove with a power line running between residences.

You can see it clearly on google maps satellite.

Under the right conditons the mast doesn't actually have to touch the conductor it could have arced over to the mast as well.

The first article I read said they have been sailing on that lake for decades and never had a problem.

Who's arse should they get?

That's close to home. We went there on a scout weekend with my Eagle scout son years ago. He also went to SHSU in Huntsville.

I cannot imagine being that parent....prayers and it's never going to 100% completely heal...

They should never had low hanging power lines crossing a public lake readily used for sail boating . I saw how low and it's appaulling. There were no warning signs nor restrictions. And it was an approved for Boy Scout camping. The families will sue the shite out of the state and the utility co . If anyone thinks these families don't have a civil case, I disagree completely
