i'm not sure what you mean here. i'm against government handouts and wouldn't take one even if i did qualify on principle. i'm not sure what you find humorous about my stance.

all insurance is a scam. not a coincidence warren buffets first big buy was an insurance company nor that it was the foundation on which he built his empire.

Isn't the alternative given by Republicans: "we still take your taxes but instead of free stuff, we give you nothing"?
I mean, given those two choices, why would anyone vote to be robbed with nothing to show for it but a gaping b-hole?
reminds me of Joe Paterno's comment about boosters, we wany your dollars but we don't want your two cents

So what are you angry about exactly?
subsidizing people who get my money to have their kids. how is that not blatantly obvious?

No it isn't. My mom probably paid $1K into hers and I got $200K when she passed. Made for a nice down payment on a home. It is what she wanted for my kid to have an amazing place to grow up.
I work in life insurance and literally have people taking out $100M on themselves and not paying a dime because of how its set up. I'm sure their families will not complain when they inherit that.

Tell your wife to bring her own Tylenol so you don’t end up paying $100 per tablet if she gets a headache

Usually (not always) there are more jobs under Republicans - so if people are working, not so much free stuff is needed - if free stuff is cut out, people need jobs to take care of themselves
However, there are many who don’t want to work for whatever reason, so they get free stuff and keep voting for those that give it to them, instead of just taking care of themselves

I believe your anger should be directed at the person who selected your plan... but you don't seem too big on personal accountability

That is a high deductible plan and actually pretty common amount.
Yep, we paid $7,350 out of pocket last year when our child was born. She had a week stint in the NICU, so it could've been much more, but we knew what we were getting into when we decided to have a child.

there's a big difference here, they agreed to it!

You gonna donate your soon incoming child tax credit back to the government?

You agreed to your costs as well...

I fired USAA years ago because my homeowners insurance went from very reasonable to through the roof over night, I called them up to ask wtf? their response(this was right after Hurricane Andrew and before I moved to FL,) was the increased premiums were to subsidize the claims paid out due to Andrew, I told them to GTFO, they chose to live in hurricane alley, not me

so the fact that i agreed to pay amount x in event of y means i don't have the right to be upset when people who get everything at no cost to them, boosting my costs in the process.
how do you figure that?

meanwhile, we have no assistance and i will be stuck paying a $6,000 deductible for labor and delivery, plus another couple grand in doctors appointments and who knows what else they decide we should subsidize.
Be thankful you helped pay for the deadbeats bill!

I think you should focus more energy on getting better insurance honestly, or maybe y'all should have switched to a PPO plan for this year
if you have a HD plan and you and your wife are on the same plan, her deductible will be $3k, not $6k

Here's my guess to what actually happened:
They were probably saying take all the wipes/diapers/cream they give you for the in room crib because you're already paying for it whether you use one diaper or the whole pack. Also take those swaddles and towels, btw.

after a few minutes of small talk, they proceed to tell me not to forget the diapers or any of the meds you get from the hospital because they're free,

quote:this part probably didn't happen. People don't openly brag about being on WIC
and they're so glad to be on medicaid and wic because they have saved so much money and wouldn't have been able to afford it all without assistance.
