Thinking about doing my own thing for a while. What am I looking at for health insurance cost for just me (single male)? FWIW, I can't remember the last time I went to a doctor and never plan on going unless I feel like I am going to die.

You're the dude that likes fat chicks, aren't you? I don't know much about the cost of non-employer based insurance but you should definitely get your eyes checked when you do.

I have a $2,500 deductible, $5,000 out-of-pocket limit plan from Blue Cross. I am 32 and a non-smoker. Cost me $432/month. It increased 20% from last year and will likely increase another 20% next year thanks to Obamacare.

I'm self employed and health insurance for me and my family is about $1,100 per month and I'm 32 and in great health.

We get screwed.

Geez, that's ridiculous. Maybe I'll just keep working for the man. Sucks that you have to have it now. I'm just looking to experiment with something for the next couple of years and would've just rolled the dice. Damn government.

Doesn't the bar association have a health plan.

Or the state business association?

My wife and I (our insurance breaks it down per person) pay roughly $700 for us, and the kids are about $150 each. Our total bill is $989, but Vantage breaks it down per person. It's about $325 for me and my wife, and about $150 per kid. I think the benefits are great, but we have prescription copay, which makes our plan better for us. I think it was the silver plan on the marketplace
