Just got my latest bill and it was absurdly high. It was almost twice as high as any bill I've previously had.

I just called customer service and they said they are not able to send people out to read the meters so they're just "estimating."

Make sure and take a look at your utility bills, because I imagine other companies are doing this as well.

Well, estimate them a payment on your check.

That should be illegal.

It probably is. Also, this is 2020. Atoms still sends people to check the meter? They can’t do that remotely

Utilities are essential and they should still be sending out meter readers. It doesn’t even require social distancing.

Not all meters are networked yet. Most utilities are rolling them out.

I’m sure they will give you a credit. Not that it makes what they did right though.

The next month that they don't estimate, the bill is adjusted.

I do legalized billing so I'd imagine they'll just bill me the same as last month.

I didn't even know meter readers was still a thing. It's outrageous in 2020 that this is still a job.

This would be my guess, as well.
